Who handles the record distribution of bands who aren't together anymore?

For example, Jimi Hendrix is dead, but obviously brand new copies of his music are still being made and sold in stores. Is it his record label who does this? What happens if a label refuses to continue making records for someone like Hendrix? Obviously it's unlikely since they make so much money from artists like this, but set that aside for now.

Who ever owns the rights to the music has the right to print it or not.

Michael Jackson Pissed Paul McCartney off when he out bid him to the rights to many beatles songs. I remember when this happened. I guess the rights of songs can be sold or put to auction by whoever has the rights now.
