Aqueduct Horse Betting?
Today i went to the new casino at the aqueduct race track. It's only the second time betting horses for me and I have a question regarding my bets (please only answer my question and don't give me an entire overview of horse betting as i am familiar with the trifectas, superfectas, box for these bets, etc.). The have a computer screen where you can place bets and there are separate options for
1)win
2)place
3)show
4)win-place
5)win-show-place...
I bet the 4th option (win-place) for the 6horse. The 6horse had 6-1 odds to win at the time. I bet 4 dollars and received 13.50 when the horse placed in second. I was a little confused at the screen but from my understanding I believe I should have just picked the place option because then i would win if the horse either won or placed (obviously at a lower payout than 6-1). I was wondering if the win-place (4th option) that I chose was supposed to be for 2 horses and if not, what is the difference between the option for place and the option for win-place. Thanks
p.s. if win-place means two horses, would win-place-show be like a trifecta
it was explained to me that the show bet, option 3 would win (albeit at a lower payout) if the horse shows-places-or wins.

Basically in the example you are giving it is this.
Option 1- number 6 had to win
option 2- number 6 had to finish 2nd
option3- number 6 had to finish 3rd
option4- number 6 could win OR place
option5- number6 could win or place or show
You bet $4 that number 6 would win or place.
Afraid not. Option 3 is a single bet that the horse will just show. Option 5 is the only one that pays out all three WPS. If it wins you get WPS money. If it places you get PS money and if it shows you get the S money. You are basically placing 3 bets on option 5. Feel free to contact me for more questions if you feel I can be of help. I handicap/bet this track often. I know it can get a little confusing.
