Nashville, TN and Opryland - are there special events at Opryland around Christmas?
My family is planning a reunion there Christmas 2012. Are there special events at Opryland? Do you HAVE to stay at Opryland to do any/all of these events? I'm asking because I know they sell packages of room and activities, so I'm wondering if we don't stay there if we will miss out on some of these activities.

They have lots of activities at Opryland in December, and you do not have to stay there to take part. They do have room/attraction packages, but they also sell the tickets separately.
Some of the things they have include:
ICE - a huge ice sculpture display with ice slides - the theme varies each year
Louise Mandrell's Christmas Dinner Party - a musical show
Radio City Christmas Spectacular - show featuring the Radio City Rockettes
lights and decorations throughout the property - well worth seeing for a small admission
They usually announce the whole program in about October, so check their website for details. You can see some of the 2011 info at
