Need help deciding on a tablet?

A few reasons on getting a tablet…. a few of my textbooks are e-books and using the kindle app on a tablet, I think, would be easier than on my netbook, I like to do homework outside of my apartment. either on the patio or a park or coffee shop, even a restaurant so something portable with lots of battery life would be awesome, I use my netbook while I’m in bed and I think a tablet might be a little more comfy when I’m talking to friends online or browsing facebook, and lastly, they look pretty cool

On my netbook currently I create and edit microsoft and openoffice documents, browse the internet, use yahoo/skype/msn etc, windows live writer, and also in one of my jobs I use my webcam to talk to clients. I login through the company’s website and I think the page loads with java and connects to my webcam so I would need the tablet to do that. Also, I would like use an external web camera, like the Microsoft LifeCam Studio. Gaming would be a great option as well as apps.

I’ve kinda narrowed my search down to two tablets so far… The first is the Asus TF201. I really like this tablet because of the power of the newer processor and it’s ability to do some gaming. Also it runs the newer version of Android so I would have access to tons and tons of apps. It also has an optional dock which extends the battery life and transforms it into a netbook. The things I am unsure about with this tablet is if it can run microsoft office or open office. I definitely need to be able to create word documents, powerpoint, excel, live writer, and outlook. Also I hear it can run flash and browse the web like a normal computer so hopefully I can use it with my company’s website and their video conferencing software but can I connect an external cam like the LifeCam to it to get a better image?

The second tablet I’m looking at is the Lenovo Ideapad 06517HU Tablet Netbook. This tablet runs windows so it should work with office and I should be able to use it with an external webcam, I think? Since it runs windows and not android I don’t really have access to any apps so that’s kind of a bummer :/ but with windows I can do everything that an app can do just in a different way.

So if anyone knows anything about tablets or computers that can give me some advice I would def appreciate it!

Any android tablet 400 dollars or more like the asus you mentioned will be able to handle almost anything.

First Point about Lenovo windows tablet: Windows 7 sucks for touch screen interface.

    Second Point: It's weak GPU.

So many tablet reviewers ignore GPU.

This is a 100 dollar tablet running a android game meant to be played on highly expensive dual core tablets:

Power of GPU is very important.

Third: Like you mentioned, No Apps.

In my opinion windows 7 tablets are useless unless they are those expensive ones in the thousands of dollars that are on par with a laptop. Then I would ask those people why didn't you just buy a laptop for half the price?

Windows 8 is supposedly to be touch interface friendly but not released yet.

Now about Android running office suite:

There are office suite apps you can buy that are almost as good as the real office suite on desktops.

I personally have office suite pro 5 and it can do everything you mention.

It takes a little digging and work to find apps to replace windows functions. Like the commercial "There's an app for that".
