In your university, does your arts and humanities classrooms look more shoddy than the engineer/science ones?
I always noticed that the math and science classrooms in my university seem to have a more quality build to them. Not just fancy computers and projectors, new desks, no gum underneath and even WINDOWS.
Seriously the literature classroom I had, had NO windows and had like bullet holes in the walls. We had an old fashioned light bulb projector, desks were old full of fum and graffiti. Hate those desks with small surface areas. Insulation from the ceiling was falling off. It's like the university wanted the worst building for this class.
But hey, I guess it goes with the theme of art and literature majors right? Money is not the object of life.
And of course the math and sciences deserve better because they are much more important than literature.
2 AnswersHigher Education (University +)9 years agoOnly science, technology, engineering, & math should be taught from public high school to universities?
In times of economic recessions shouldn't we focus more on practical skills, preparing the future with the skills able to fix the economy?
Courses like History,Literature, social studies, philosophy, Art, music, p.e., etc basically anything not related to math or science or tech should be temporarily taken out of schools. Studying shakespeare and poetry may be fun(not to me though), but it isn't very practical. If social studies is so great why do only 50% of people vote? It's the parent's responsibility to make the children stay fit and healthy not P.E. class. These liberal arts and humanities courses don't seem to be very successful anyways either.
Wouldn't the government save a ton of money by eliminating non S.T.E.M courses, at least temporarily?
Companies are outsourcing jobs to china or india because our folks aren't science, tech, engineering, or mathematically skilled enough.
4 AnswersPrimary & Secondary Education9 years ago125 amp Main breaker burning with busbar. 3 different electricians, 3 different solutions, who do I trust?
I have zero knowledge of electricity. I'm just repeating what the electricians said. They all wrote down the same problem. 125 amp main breaking burning with the busbar. There's arcing or something, it's a fire hazard, melting something (can't read handwriting).
Electrician #1 Says he has to replace the whole panel for $1900 dollars.
#2 Says he has to replace the panel for same price BUT my state has a new law requiring that I also have a trench dug 45 feet long towards an above ground conduit that needs to be built too. Total cost = $10000 dollars
#3 Says he can just repair the main breaker and busbar for 900 bucks.
Here's a picture of the damage:

I sometimes don't have electricity in half of my house. I stopped using dryer, a/c , microwave , toaster, 220v appliances like the electricians recommended.
Any opinions? Help?
5 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs9 years agoIf we put more resources into education for Science, Tech, Engineer, Math, the economy will be better?
Shouldn't we downsize Arts, sports, humanities, liberal arts, history etc courses in high school and college in recession because they are not practical?
Should we even get rid of these useless degrees at least temporarily?

Isn't global warming just a liberal lie, an attempt to spend more tax money and get their "Green" energy companies richer by taking away wealth from hard working oil companies?

3 AnswersSecurity1 decade agoIs it true that when you've stopped questioning yourself, you have stopped learning?
That's what my professor said. He says people who never admit they are wrong never grow smarter.
He says even as an old man he still gets many things wrong. He once believed that women could never serve in the police force. He once believed the civil rights movement was wrong(He was a police officer then). Interesting criminal justice class.

You are a skilled doctor. One day, two emergency cases are
rushed in to you at the same time. One is your country's crown
prince, and the other is your own son. Both are in critical
condition. Whichever you pick, the other will surely die.
If you save the prince, you will be a national hero, celebrated
throughout the land... In exchange for your son. But if you save
your son, you and your family will be persecuted as traitors.
Who will live and who will die?

A friend introduces a woman to you as a potential girlfriend.
But the woman is neither attractive nor is she your type.
However, if you refuse, you will be spitting on your friend's

1 AnswerSingles & Dating1 decade agoDoes God have a philosophy?
Based on what we know so far from the beginning of the universe to now. What can we deduce about God's intents and thoughts using all the events that has happened in this universe so far?
Is it even possible to give someone or something like God a philosophy?
My professor says that the existence of teenagers is evidence of God's sense of humor.
7 AnswersPhilosophy1 decade agoIs it morally fair that there is disparity between the rich and the poor?
I think I have to at why and how there is a rich class and a poor class or class divisions at all.
Many reasons including work ethic, determination, diligence, bright ideas, corrupt ideas, cheating the system, politics, greed, laziness, apathy, culture, ideologies, Xenu, Allah, God, blah blah blah.
I remember someone say we allow a rich class because it is possible for anyone to attain wealth . Well not everyone is a gifted athlete, can afford to go the best schools, have the right connections, etc. Or it might be to weed out the weak. Darwinism. Only he strong will adapt and survive. However I doubt people in wall street are really "adapting" or just finding loopholes in the system.
Bah I'm just ranting ignorantly. This is yahoo answers for bored curious people. If you read this and felt it wasted your time I apologize in Times New Roman. I had just read Upton's sinclair autobiography for a historical profile essay and he had some interesting ideas like "wage slavery" contempt for the rich, bassically the socialist stuff he was known for. But good guy though who fought for labor unions and did great muckracking.

2 AnswersFood Service1 decade agoDo you allow people to eat in your car?
I was in my friends car once and had a sandwich I wanted to eat cuz I was hungry and I think the mayo was rather warm. It a mercedes suv. He saw me and said, "please put that away man, I don't want people eating in my car."
Understandable, I respect other people's property most of the time. But I kept wondering, maybe it depends on the value of he car. I always eat fast food in my old corolla. Smells alright. Looks alright.

I am a college drop out. I can't find a job. And I always wanted to do something different with my life.
I never had a strong male figure in my life. Father died when I was young. I could not bring myself to focus on subects in college I did not like. But I could focus on subjects that interested me and got As in. But you can't be picky in life. I made a huge mistake.
