Is it wrong If your mother asked to be buried, but you cremated her instead saving yourself some money?

I think that's really wrong, that would mean you have no respect for your mother. Save money a different way, she's your mother for gods sake!! She's gone forever, the least you could have done was respect her wish.

Yes, it would be wrong. If she has left money for her funeral, and instructions regarding what she wants, they should be carried out. If she has not left enough money for a burial you can probably get help for this through your local authority. In the U.K. there is such a thing as a 'paupers funeral' which is very basic but that does not matter. If a family cannot afford the ridiculously high price of, what many consider, a proper funeral then ask for help and do what your mother wanted.

If the person who did this can live with it - I am pretty sure it is totally of no concern to the departed.

The sticking point is ....... can the disrespect of the deceased person wishes be lived with?

However - what is done is done and one can only go forward and perhaps learn the lesson that what is expedient is not always best.

    If that's a priority over a Mothers wishes,then it's pointless asking

yes in a sense it was wrong, because you failed to honour your mothers wishes you just broke one of the ten commandments.. Honour thy FATHER and thy MOTHER.- the fifth commandment. in a sense that is however if you couldn't afford to do as she wished then that was beyond your control and that would have been ok but if you could and did not do so just to save money when you could have afforded to do so, you'd be guilty as sin.
