Can i repair my cars head gasket with liquid repair solutions?

My car is a Daewoo Nubira CDX 2000, and has only done 87,000kms

And there is a problem with the head gasket.

The tailpipe emits alot of steam, and is alot weaker when running.

The car doesnt overheat while idling or driving.

And I have never seen the car overheat while driving it.

So is it at all possible to use one of those liquid solutions to repair my car?

Or will that damage it more in the long term?

I got quoted about $2100 or so to repair it.

So i dont know whether to repair and sell it/keep it.

Trade it in for a new better branded car and spend more money.

Or sell it with the problem and get a new car.

Any advice would help!

Thanks alot

Matt

Never heard of a liquid solution working. The head has to be bolted properly or the car will not work right. Selling as is might be the easiest solution. Is it worth much more than the $2100 repair job or do you like it enough to keep it? It is pretty much up to you what you do but you should not drive it as is.

ive heard good and bad about the liquid sealer for head gaskets but my buddy grabbed some from wally world im not sure what it was but it took a good bit to put it in mixing it right and flushing the system but its alot cheaper than that quote you can also try blue devil it has a very good rating

i used a product (can't remember the name of it) in my 92 v6 Sunbird 2 years ago and is still working.Don't think my problem was as bad as your though.Problem with water glass and certain products like pepper and Alumaseal is they tend to plug the smaller water tubes in heater cores. If your handy with cars, you might be able to pull the heads, have them cleaned up and reinstall them.If you go this route, pick up a Chilton and a Haynes repair book for the car. Most all this would cost you is about $200-300.

If it's not overheating or losing water your head gasket is not blown. Does the steam from the tailpipe go away when its warmed up?

It might solve your problem for a little bit, but you will definitely want to get a new head gasket on there. Your at risk for major engine failure if you solely rely on the temporary fix.
