$cam Newton selected to go to the Pro Bowl over Matthew Stafford?

As I've been saying for a while now, Stafford is not that great of a QB.

I'd agree that Stafford deserves to go to the Pro Bowl over Newton, but I can understand why Newton was voted in. He has had a phenomenal rookie season and with really little help from his team on both sides of the ball. Stafford has had an unbelievable season as well and took the Lions to the playoffs for the first time in over a decade, but he also has arguably the best receiver in the NFL and is in his third season in the NFL. People tend to place a lot of weight on how good a player can be in his rookie season as a measuring stick of how good that player can be once he reaches his full potential, which is why players like Newton and even Andy Dalton got a lot more hype for their seasons than Stafford.

When I saw that on ESPN... I wondered if Stafford declined the opportunity to play, but I don't think that's the case. I have no idea how Stafford didn't make it over Eli.. but to not make it over Newton is an embarrassment to the league.

The Pro Bowl has lost all credibility that Andy Dalton.. a guy who threw for 20 touchdowns and 13 picks with less than 4000 yards, makes the Pro Bowl over someone like Stafford. If Newton declined, I wonder if Romo and Ryan would have been picked over Stafford as well.

4 guys in the HISTORY of the league... THE HISTORY OF THE LEAGUE.. have thrown for 5000 yards in a single season... Stafford being one of them... and he still can't make the Pro Bowl.

Now I understand you are disgruntled at the dismal end to your season; and yes stats mean a whole lot to getting in the pro-bowl. However you have to look at the intangibles that cam Newton brings to a team that has no significant talent to speak of. He put up all of those numbers with just one, very old, wide receiver in Steve smith. Not to mention zero offensive line protection and zero run game. Yes Matthew startled had an incredible year, I will agree with you on that point. However to say cam Newton did not deserve that honor as much as stafford is a bit ridiculous. Stafford at least made the playoffs, Cam Newtons team let him down, I think the kid deserve s it.

Cam had a pretty good rookie year but I still know Stafford deserved to go to the Pro Bowl this year. The numbers that he put up were just outstanding.

Hey, maybe it is because Cam is more popular than Stafford. Stafford and Victor Cruz are the biggest snubs I have ever seen.

Is it that big of deal, one thing Newton is, is fun to watch and really the Pro Bowl is a joke, no one tries and half the players that make it skip it because it's absolutely pointless. The Pro Bowl is a stupid honor, that barely even means anything to the players so no need to get so upset Jake, take solace in the fact Stafford won't be playing in a meaningless game

@ Wiggy , Stafford can't be selected over Dalton due to the fact that Dalton is in the AFC and Stafford in the NFC. I totally agree Stafford should have gone over him. If Stafford was in the AFC he'd prolly have the 2nd qb spot ( first due to Brady in SB) for himself.

Definitely a ridiculous selection...Stafford and a number of others were a lot better and should have been picked over the Scam.....

Well those stats werent shown on the Pro Bowl Vote poll. If they did show he'd probably make it.
