I have a craving for corned beef and cabbage for tonight's dinner and need help with ingredient subsitutions?

Love your name. I would settle for a nice fried bologna sandwich tonight, that is if you have bread. You can use mustard, BBQ sauce or even mayo as a spread on the sandwich. Soy sauce and sweet n low, not so much. No bread, try bologna and eggs, if you have eggs.

Looks like you really need to get to the supermarket. Pick up a nice corned beef and a head of cabbage to make over the week-end. I also add carrots and a few bay leaves to the water I simmer the corned beef and cabbage in. To be sure it is not too salty, you might want to cook the corned beef in some seasoned unsalted water for about 20 minutes, then bring fresh water to a simmer and add the rest of the ingredients.

No offense but when I first saw this I thought it was a joke.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say no way with those ingredients. Go look for a good deli. The best you could do is to fry or grill the bologna make a sandwich and have a bowl of tomato soup. Nuke the chips to get out some of the moisture and eat them on the side. But there is no way other than an act of God that that will ever taste like corned beef and cabbage.

A bologna sandwich sounds pretty good to me about now. I sat for 1 1/2 hours in a parking lot waiting for the road service guy to come and fix the flat on my car.

That meant no lunch, so I'm starving. Go to the store and buy something to eat, or call up and get something delivered.
