Is Tony Blair a socialist?
I read this week that Mr Blair earned an average of 12 million pounds last year and managed to pay very little income tax on that figure. Is this a good example from an ex polititian and former Prime Minister who won the votes and confidence of the British public when he claimed to hold socialist ideals?

having a lot of money doesn't make someone a socialist. what probably makes him less of a believable, or practical socialist is that he didn't pay much taxes. this simply means that he has a great accountant and that this person managed to use the extant loopholes that the government incorrectly provides.
you should probably look more at his policies as prime minister than at his bank account. he is possibly not a socialist idealist, but how many idealists are actually in politics?

via the time Tony Blair and his minions got here to potential they have been now not socialists. They hijacked the Labour party, dumped any pretensions to socialism, and accompanied what grow to be relatively a precise wing schedule, in basic terms for the sake of gaining potential. New Labour are Thatcherites in all yet call. Brown is a proponent of neoliberalism in economics and social coverage. inspect what has been accomplished to the Welfare State and the NHS. New Labour at the instant are not to any extent further a working type party, much less socialist. American attitudes could nicely be very parochial - Blair's and Brown's unquestioning help for the "conflict on Terrorism", the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan is sufficient for some individuals.

Socialist leaders rarely take part in the suffering that they impose on their people. And yes Blair is a socialist, he just isn't all hardcore about it like Che Guevara.
