Does anybody have any good lentil recipes?

I had lentils for the 1st time this evening and they were so tasteless and bland, but with a strong taste of bland tastelessness if that makes sense.

So i was wondering if anyone had any tips for spicing it up a little or any recipes.

Thank you. x

lentils are no different than any other pulse; alone they are not real flavorful but in recipes where YOU control the flavor, they can be a delicious part of any diet.

lentil soup is great on a cold blustery day.

There are Lentil salads too that can be delicious.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Do a 'lentil recipes" google search and you will have enough recipes to keep you eating lentils for a long time.

Lentils are like other legumes/beans/etc (or even rice, noodles, potatoes, etc) and don't have a lot of flavor *on their own*; but just salt alone can sometimes suffice. Usually though, they're made with other ingredients and/or seasonings. In fact, you can even use the same seasonings and added ingredients you'd use for rice, etc).

There are *loads* of lentil recipes (!), but they're mostly from countries outside the U.S.--aside from lentil soup and maybe a few salads anyway.

And ...there are also several different kinds of lentils which are different from each other in taste and sometimes texture too as well as color (all good). So there are lots of possibilities.

Check out some of these recipes for side dishes and main dishes featuring lentils:

Some are so good that an involuntary mmmmm escapes my lips while eating them. Plus they make fantastic leftovers for next-day-lunches, etc, since they only get better with sitting and nice to have something quick and warm to eat for lunch.

Look online for an Indian dal recipe. Lentil heaven. A meal in its own.

Or a good thick soup made with a mix of lentils, split peas, puy lentils & pearl barley is always a winner for me (stick a bit of smoked ham in the soup, if you're not scared of meat).
