Intel Core 2 Duo processor better than Intel Core i3?

I'm getting a new computer and I've just got this one about...3 years ago and it has a Intel Core 2 duo processor. Is a Intel core i3 processor better or equivalent? Is it much of a difference from an i5?

the i3 is better then the intel dore 2,,,but if i were you i would look at amd a6 laptops, they are about the same price and much better then an i3. the a6 has a quad core processor as oppossed to dual core. the a6 also has turbo boost technology, which means that it operates at a low speed normally, then when a program needs the speed or the power, it boosts up to 2,3 ghz. that saves on battery life na dlowers heat stress. the a6 also has a dedicated graphics card, menaing that the processor and graphcis card work sperately, in an integrated graphics card, which the i3 usually has, the graphics card draws from the processor, lowering the performance and efficiency of both.contact me if you need more help.

They still trade punches. Some are better some aren't.

Choose "Show only Notebook CPU's" in the dropdown box and click on restrict.

Compare model numbers of Core 2 Duo and i3 processors.
