Can I get a maid from Philippines without involving an agency?

I think in Dubai you can find a lot of people from the Philippines working here. Perhaps the best is you enter in contact with one of them and ask them from their experience if it is possible to avoid passing through an agency and whether it may create problems or not. As a rule the Filipino government prefers to have certain control on their citizens working oversee, hence those agencies. But it seems that these agencies are often asking way to much money for the service they propose.

As you probably already know there are a bunch of new requirements in place for the protection of the OFW's. Frankly The UAE has a very poor record of treating OFS's correctly and IAW their contract. Dubai and KSA in paticular are the 2 worst offenders.

From what I understand of there laws today. You can only hire a maid that is certified in the Philippines. And has completed Maid's school. That means a contract with her. And a Agency that verifies it there. They have got very strict on this in the last few years.

Don't keep her passport because it's against the international law, read the index in the passport, stipulates it's only the bearer who assigned to handle it and nobody else.

Don't make her work 7 days or 6 1/2 days a week 18 hours a day and 4 hours of sleep.
