  • How (un)efficient is the post in the Philippines?

I have sent a small parcel from Europe to the Philippines (N.egros Island) by post 2 months ago, it has not yet arrived.

Last time I sent a parcel it arrived after 2-3 months but it was thorn and half of the stuff inside had mysteriously disappeared. I have some doubt about the efficiency and the integrity of the postal services in the country.

Have you been through similar experiences ?

  • Are there laws against usury?

Are there laws against usury in the Philippines? It seems a common practice to lend say 10,000 p to a poor family and ask 10 % monthly interest (that is 120 % per year).

This is unlawful in most civilized country. For instance in the US it is unlawful to lend money with an interest higher than 10-12 % (yearly). Depending on state (see http://www.loanback.com/category/usury-laws-by-sta...

The Catholic Church and most religions consider usury to be a sin.

What is the situation on this topic in the Philippines?

Thank you for your answer, no troll please

  • What do you think should be done against the proliferation of bad trolls?

    on YA Philippines.

There was a now long gone time where YAP was a community of respectful people exchanging ideas, opinions and information about the kingdom of the Philippines Islands. That community consisted of mostly polite members and was indulging a number of trolls as long as they remained funny.

But recently one has observed a proliferation of rapidly multiplying bad trolls. They create new avatars several time a day, keep asking the same recurring insane questions and post dumb comments and answers. Most are males but a few female also appear here and there. They usually are in their late 70's although they claim for 20 years less. They are all sexually impotent but they brag to come to the Philippines to rent or buy cheap pekpek.

What do you think should be done:

    a) eradicate them with pesticide and weedkiller (but those are not environemnt friendly).

    b) Send them the most harmful computer viruses.

    c) Have the barangay official catch them the minute they put a step in Angeles City and send them to jail.

    d) Help them, provide them with super doses of viagra and rent GRO's by dozen for them.

    e) We have to accept them and pray. They are a punishment sent by God for this country numerous sins.

    Or

    f) Just ignore them and do not feed them hoping they will soon grow tired and invade another kingdom.

I am considering coming to the Philippines for a short visit in August. I know it is right in the rainy season and I am concerned if there is a high risk of typhoon that could complicate my trip. I woul'd be interested to visit Baguio or Tagaytay: is it ok at this season? Any other suggestions about nice things to see or to do?

    Thank you for advices.

  • Why do you spell 'Philippines' but 'Filippinos'?

    shouldn't it be 'Philippinos"?

Well of course it does not matter so much but I always wondered what was the origin of this spelling rule.

  • Is 30 years old too old to find a job?

A friend here in the Philippine just separated from her husband. She is 30 years old and without college degree (she went to college but had to quit before getting her bachelor degree).

She has no livelihood and had to return to her parents with her 8 years old boy, an OFW sister is supporting the whole family. Sounds familiar I think.

Now my friend is being told she is overaged to find a job...

In fact anyone older than 25 cannot land on a decent job.

Is this a reality in this country?

  • Why did President Reagan and then vice president G. Bush (father) called Marcos a "freedom fighter"?

Why did they enthusiastically endorsed the dictatorship of Ferdinand Marcos, saying (in 1981)

"we love your adherence to democratic principles and the democratic process."

Do you think Reagan and Bush really believed Marcos was into promoting more democraty ?

  • Is there too much apathy in the Philippines about the problem of hunger?

According to a survey last year, the level of poverty increases. One family out of five in the country can't feed its children decently (perhaps more). Russia which is itself a poor country recently sent 30 tons of food for the recent disaster victims.

Is the government, the church and other bodies of the society too apathetic? Read this Philippine Daily Inquirer column

    http://opinion.inquirer.net/22295/we-watch-while-t...

I am not blaming anyone, but is this question addressed properly in the Country, is this a national priority in your opinion?

  • Serious problem need girls advise please...?

Two of my women friends are in relation since two years. They are (were) deeply in love but with lots of jealousy and occasional fights. They recently broke up in an incredibly violent way, sending each other sms full of hatred. It turns out that both of them trust me and tell me her side of the story and ask me not to communicate with the other girl. I doubt if they can repair the broken relation but I wish so much they can at least find a way to forgive and build a peaceful relation without hate and start a meaningful life again. I am just a poor man in between these two girls, what can I do to help? Both of them are so sad but things where so far they can't trust each other.

Best wishes to every one here. Those who love the Philippines and its people, those who hate how the country is run, those who love despising their pinoy fellows and all those who are trolling around and make me sometimes lough. Happy new year to all of you and may your country have peaceful and prosperous times ahead.
