About 2 weeks ago I posted a similar question. I am feverishly hoping and praying Cardinal Tagle gets selected. Cardinals older than 80 cannot be selected and Tagle, at 55, should draw lots of attention. One article I read described him as especially charismatic, likening him to the late Pope John Paul II. His selection should be an enormous and welcome pride for Catholic Asians, and Filipinos in particular, who have been described variously as the strongest Catholics in that part of the world. Filipino pride? You bet! I don't see anything negative happening to our country or the Asian continent should he become the new Pope. I also think it would be uplifting to the psyche of all Catholic Asians to have someone in the Vatican who looks like them. Of course, I try to see the world around me in a positive light.
At this moment, I would be surprised if Cardinal Tagle hasn't already chosen his papal name.
Add: You guys killed jhis chances already. Come one guys, what's wrong with "hoping and praying". Everyone else around the Catholic world is doing the same thing for their candidate.

Every catholic around the world will have their favorite bet to become the next pope just like all Filipinos favoring their own in Manila Archbishop Tagle, yes the answer is obvious. However if you are asking about his odds, most Vatican experts lean towards the more mature and experienced candidates based on historical results not to mention centuries old tradition of choosing Europeans. However, who knows this time there might be surprises. The Holy Spirit works in mysterious ways.

choosing a Pope coming from the only country left in the world that doesn't recognize divorce and gave its government problems in legalizing birth control isn't such a bad idea. but i'm not Catholic, and the last time i checked... our constitution says the separation of church and state is "inviolable". even if Jesus was Filipino, the Catholic Church has no business in government policies.
also not too keen on the "Pinoy Pride" thing of having a Filipino Pope. that's no different from having a Pinoy UN Secretary General or a Pinoy pound-for-pound boxing champion.

Remember some popes were elected when nobody thought they were going to be the one.
The Holy Spirit helps guide them to chose the next pope, not an inside election type thing.

So 100 plus dirty old men in purple robes will sit down, scheme, plot and politic a new --Pope.
Good luck to you.
The Catholic religion is one that preys on the weak, poor and young--especially boys.
You would think a Priest ( being male) would want female sex but they always get caught out abusing little boys.
Thank anything I am an Atheist that doesn't need these sick, perverted , dirty old men to tell me how to live.

No.
That would be another Bubble in the "Pinoy Pride" mentality.
Aminin na natin, yun ngang second place sa American Idol si Jessica Sanchez, ang yayabang na ng mga Pilipino, pano pa kaya kung magkaroon ng Filipino Pope.
