Is there going to be one day a black king or queen in the UK?

I mean it was a surprised when the USA elected a first colored president, who is actually quite a noble and smart person. So are we going to see some day a colored king or queen reigning at Buckingham Palace?

Update:

@sir Ichiban what's your problem with spelling? colored or coloured?? Both terms exist and coloured has a more restricted meaning, it refers to some population in South Africa.

@ Badger and Josh: what makes you think I am an American? I'm not. And I know the Queen isn't ruling the country but that point is irrelevant to my question.

I have the feeling some people feel insulted by my question and I wonder why. Is the genetic material of colored people not high enough for the British Monarchy?

I don't see why we should. To be monarch of the UK one must be the descendant of Sophia of Hanover. She has no black descendants that I know of. The monarchy is the embodiment of british culture, so to have someone who is not of british descent would defeat the purpose. I would sooner see the monarchy be abolished than be tampered with like that.

Well as it is hereditary yes but only if one marries into the royal family and produces children that will inherit.

I must admit I'm looking for the day that the US elects a female President you see we had 4 heads of government who were female before the US even existed and in total we have had 5 females heads of government and 6 female heads of state. That is a total of 7 female leaders.

Women make up 50% (give or take) of the population. It's weird how you have completely ignored 50% of your population all together.

It will never happen, the Royal family or sometimes referred to as 'The Firm', will never allow the bloodline to change, you know what happened to Princess Diana when she was having a relationship with Dodi Fayed. The Royal family is fiercely run as a profitable business, most of the time at the British Taxpayer's expense. I think you have a marvelous leader in Obama, a true family man and a decent presentation. We have black people in Parliament, and a high ranking Law person who is black, but that may be all we will get.

When a prince or princess of the royal blood marries a black person (and in this country, the person would be a commoner like Kate Middleton, because all the OLD aristocracy, who the royals hang about with are white Brits)...and they have royal offspring.

Then, it would be a matter of how high up in the line of succession the children would be.

Our monarcy isn't elected and never has been.

We are a democracy though....we elect our Government and our Prime Minister who ACTUALLY rule the country.

I thought you Americans would at least know that our Queen has no power?

    C'mon....

Do you know that little about the UK?

Like Josh stated..."as it is hereditary yes but only if one marries into the royal family and produces children that will inherit." So, it is possible.

Colored? COLORED? Even the spelling is wrong! No there will not be a black King or Queen in the U.K. Monarchs in the U.K are NOT elected, thank the great fairy in the sky.

No, not because the British are prejudiced, but because the title is hereditary - royalty almost exclusively marry within their own social groups and of the same background.

Therefore, they're all white and very upper class.

Why in the name of sanity should we have a coloured Monarch ?

Give a good reason why the U.K MONARCHY SHOULD HAVE A BLACK MONARCH ! WHY ?.
