RUNNING AWAY TO HAWAII...TIPS?
i am thinking about running away from Illinois to Hawaii, i've been thinking about it for a long time. I am saving up money before i go so far i have $525.00 enough for the plane ride. i am 16 years old and only plan on living in Hawaii for 1 year or so, not long. I do plan on telling my parents before i go. my mom will probably give me permission and a couple hundred bucks, but my question is how am i going to live there on my own with little support from my parents in Illinois? please HELP me, i would really appreciate it. BTW i speak fluent Hawaiian.

You speak fluent Hawaiian? Even though it is considered a dead language lol? That's an outright lie (not that it's not spoken, but hardly ever other than common phrases). Despite that, I know people who are Hawaiian, but all of their first languages are indeed English.
I live in Hawaii, everything is overpriced because it is far away from any continent. It is the worst place to live EVER price wise, but it's considered the best place for homeless to live because of the constant weather and such.
525 dollars won't even last you a month, maybe not even a week if you're planning on finding a room to sleep in.
Good luck with this one buddy. I'm not trying to sound mean, but that is the DUMBEST idea I have ever heard of.

You speak fluent Hawaiian? Really? Maka‘ala ke kanaka kahea manu.
You're going to have major problems trying to live on your own as a minor. And frankly, even if your mom approves and gives you a couple hundred dollars, she's still likely to get in trouble for letting you go.
You will have major problems even finding some place to rent to you, regardless of if you can pay for it.
The normal recommendation is that someone coming have 5 figures to cover room, board, transportation, etc., to get started. And no, that's not a "high ball" figure. That's real. That's the low end. That means $10,000 or more if you're "running away" and would need a place to stay, time to find work, etc. There are not jobs galore, especially for "run away" 16 year olds. You are not just going to show up and be able to support yourself. Period.
Anyway, running away to Hawaii at 16 would be a Very Bad Idea. You will rapidly go homeless. Perhaps instantaneously. It will not be good. It will not be fun. You will not just sleep on the beach and walk around eating fruit off of trees. You will likely be shipped back to where you came from almost immediately, and your mother could well find herself arrested for one charge or another. And you'll likely find yourself a ward of the state... back in Illinois.

Its not really running away if your parents know and have their permission. It will also be difficult to live there with a couple of hundred dollars. No one really will rent a room to a minor either so you will basically be homeless. If you plan on getting a job, there is not to many jobs that you can get when only being 16. Hawaiian is a dying language and its surprising that someone in Illinois can actually be fluent Hawaiian. (probably a lie.) It is better to stay where you are.

I dont think you are even going to make rent the first month. Housing is really expensive in Hawaii. The cheapest you could probably rent is a studio and they average around 900 dollars a month. Food is very expensive because everything is shipped here and resturants charge more than the national average because its a tourist spot. You would have a hard time getting a job because you are a minor and most employers in Hawaii favor locals over new comers unless you have more work experience and academic qualifications that will impress them. Save your 525 dollars on something else, You are going to waste your time and money coming here, many young people older than you tried doing this and they ended up homeless until there plane ticket back to where they came from. You should visit here when you are much older and have more money so you wouldn't have to suffer in paradise.

That much money will last you about one week, if you're lucky. You really should complete your education so you can get a decent job. Living on the beach may sound like fun, but it's going to get old fast when you're picking through the dumpsters for scraps of food. I'm not trying to talk you out of moving to Hawaii. I'm just saying that being homeless is no picnic. You'll have a much better chance of living comfortably if you get a college education first.

Don't do it. Your problems will follow you. Living in Hawaii is not a vacation/ You will not get a job due to you age and only being here for a year. It is illegal to be homeless.
