What scares you the most in horror films?

The point where a women/man goes to the window or door and look at it for like 1 minute then and with the sound affects something scary pops in front of him/her even thought i always know that will happen but it still gets me every time :S

supernatural stuff like the exorcist. blood and gore is fine especially if you work with blood etc

but films about the beyond are as it plays to the human psyche, as the content is dealing with a topic that is not fully cemented in concrete and peoples imaginations run wild making it even worse experiencing the film.

with blood and gore just open any anatomy textbook and its pretty much explained and you can spot anatomical errors of the props department and how it shows they didnt take sciences at high school.

but with supernatural stuff no body knows the truth, thats what im trying to say, your imagination is limitless in its efforts to scare you silly.

Its the music or sounds that create the atmosphere of a horror film that frighten me!

When an awkward looking person emerges from the behind, or strange horrific background sounds.

You know how on YouTube they have those videos where you're just watching, and suddenly it changes to some demonic girl screaming? That type of thing scares me.

dolls and puppets, i saw barberella when i was 8 in the 70's and the bit when the weird kids set the jaw snapping dolls on her put me off for life.

The part when its over and the screen is black and I start digesting everything in. Definetelly the scariest.

probably when it goes really quiet and then someone leaps out or there is a loud bang. i know its going to happen but it still scares me sometimes

The fact I've been sucker enough to waste my time watching it.

When i have to pay to see them and they turn out to be lame, unoriginal or just plain balls.
