Switching dog foods--how long?

We have a dog with a sensitive stomach. We're attempting to switch her from puppy formula to adult formula. Unfortunately the problem is finding one her stomach can handle. How long should I give a new food before we finally decide her stomach can't handle it? We're switching slowly, BTW. As slow as i need to. I'm just wondering how long do I give it before I realize her stomach just isn't handling it? This will be the third day on the latest trial, mixing 1/4 new to 3/4 old, and so far she's got super bad gas. I don't know what her stools are doing in the last twenty four hours, b/c unfortunately she's taken to eating it (that's an entire other problem we're having with our two dogs).

Update:

The poo eating....Yes, I do know it can't be good for them. It's something she's always done that got worse when we got another dog. Her eating her own is a new thing. Unfortunately, the key is to catch her before she eats it. And she's getting sneaky about it.

The food. We had the same problem when we first got her. We had to try several different puppy foods to find one she could tolerate. I did try the adult version of the same food and unfortunately that gave her explosive diarrhea. And we went really slowly with this one. Gave it two weeks and couldn't get past half and half. So we went back to the puppy formula, gave her a couple weeks to get back to normal and are trying again. Now I'm feeding her a different formula within the same brand of food (Iams Naturals). really smelly gas appears to be the only side effect so far. This morning's poo was solid.

Thanks for the advice. Was just something I wondered. I've never had a dog with a sensitive

Usually foods that have puppy mixes also have adult mixes of the same type? Its probably best to keep with the same brand (not foolproof, but best guess) switch slowly, and pleeease pick up your dogs stools, they really shouldnt eat them, theres a reason the stools are expelled from the body, full of toxins, which could also be the cause of diarrhea... i had a dog that ate poo too, i just had to pick it up (usually dogs go in the same area) also switch over a week or two, wait on the new food for 3 or 4 days and if she still has diarrhea, see the vet, it could be some other cause.
