Am I arrogant, or justified?

Am I arrogant? I don't like to be a know-it-all, and I sometimes avoid showing my true intelligence, but when I do, without fail, I always encounter that person that responds by saying, "and you know better...right?". I want to say I do because I know a lot about a variety of subject, but I feel bad for saying so. Am I arrogant if I state I do know better, or should I just act ignorant?

Update:

Great responses, and one of you is right about how I may present it, but that's the thing I don't even try at times and people still perceive it as be being an arrogant asshole. Also, the answer about me being young makes sense but remember arrogance isn't isolated to being young.

No offense, but yes you do sound arrogant. But not because you're a jerk... because you're probably very young.

You do not show your intelligence through your words alone... you show it through your actions.

Most people just roll their eyes in silence... it takes balls for someone to say "And you know better, right?". Maybe you should question why so many people are telling you this... is it because they have a lot of gall, or is it because they really do have a good handle on the subject? The fact that you get this response a lot tells me that you think you know more than you do.

It's not WHAT yo say. It's how you say it. For example : I want you to wear a suit to work as opposed to "I think it would give a realy good impression to our customers if you wore a suit". The first request is arrogant. The second is suggestive.

It's no shame to know a lot but it is arrogant to show off to others for the sake of showing off. No one will appreciate.

"and I sometimes avoid showing my true intelligence" Didn't need to read any further than that. Yes you are arrogant, whether you are justified or not is irrelevant.

Never act ignorant. There's far too many ignorant people in the world without the rest of us having to pretend that we are too.
