I removed Windows XP Service Pack 2 from my old Toshiba laptop and now it doesn't work?

I recently tried connecting to the wifi in my home on my old Toshiba laptop (it's from early 2000's) to work on it a bit. It kept dropping the wifi, and I read on my phone that if you delete a certain hotfix from SP2, it would fix it. I went to the Microsoft website to investigate, and it says that this certain hotfix could mess with the wifi connection. I read their guide on how to delete this hotfix. Long story short I removed "Windows XP Service Pack 2" and now my laptop will not work. It will turn on, and I can open programs but it freezes. Whenever I mouse over the toolbar at the bottom, the mouse does the sandglass "waiting" symbol. Is there a way to fix this?

Update:

Needera: I can't connect to the internet to re-download the package.

It's a bad mistake! U shouldn't do it. I doubt that returning it will fix things. Most probably U'll need fresh reinstall of XP, and after find another way to fix problem with wi fi.
