My NETGEAR WNA1000 wifi USB adapter keeps dropping connection?

I'm using this thing right here: http://support.netgear.com/app/products/model/a_id... and for whatever reason, it won't keep a connection for more than 5 seconds. It works just fine connecting my desktop to my home's wifi, but when I try to use it on my laptop(because the wifi on it sucks) it doesn't work. Any help?

How far are you from the router? In general, those usb adapters have very little range. Especially the ones without an antenna.

I suggest moving closer to the router.

The range that your wireless adapters can go depends on a lot of factors like how far are you away? What technology is your router? (B,G,N) What are your wall made of? How many walls are you going through? Are you using a microwave or something similar? Microwaves can disrupt wireless signal.
