read this carefully AND TAKE IT TO heart. 95% OF CONVERTER DO not NEED CHANGING. tHE reason THAT THEY GET CLOGGED UP must BE SOLVED first!! nEW CONVERTERS WILL CLOG UP just the same AS THE OLD ONE. yOURS IS o nly DIRTY AND can CLEAN ITSELF OUT. dO not BUY A new ONE UNTIL IT RATTLES LIKE A DESERT SNAKE. WHat is REALLY happening is that your FUEL mixture is going OFF track and MAKING extra carbon. THis is EASY to fix. Take $20 to the local quicky lube and have them clean out your THROTTLE BODY and IAC (idle air control) vale to SHOWROOM, HOSPITAL FLOOR, CLEAN!!! Have them run SEA FOAM and/or GUMOUT spray through your VACUUM and PCV vavle. This will REMOVE most carbon from piston rings, valve heads, and piston tops. RUnning these cleaners THROUGH the intake will RESTORE your existing converter and clean the O2 sensor portholes. Your engine will LOVE you for this treatment and you will save BIG MONEY on unnecessary repairs. Your converter can last the LIFETIME of your car if you get my message! Your total investment will be about $50 or less, closer to $40. It will make ALL thedifference and you can flip the bird to ANYONE that says your converter is BAD and needs replacing!!! GOOD LUCK!! WHen done, have a NEW set of DENSO IRIDIUM sparl plugs installed. Your power and economy will IMPROVE drastically as MORE fuel is burned with EACH piston stroke and LESS carbon is made to clog up your expensive CONVERT. They are $3 EACH!!! Send ME the check for the cost of a converter afterwards. Ic ould USE IT!!!

several things can happen, one of which is failing the emission's test.they can also decay and the interior can clog the exhaust from exiting the engine, and cause the car to stop running or only move at a low speed.either way something has to be done.you may be able to replace with a custom exhaust that will alter the sound and performance.

A catalytic converter is something that uses a catalyst to change three harmful compounds in car exhaust into harmless compounds.

I know its not healthy to go without one, as the fumes can enter you cab of your vehicle and make you very sick. I had a mechanic remove mine. which I didn't realize what he was using it for. not a good thing to do. but it ran ok for a long time. but I always smell the terrible fumes. and didn't realize at the time why I was getting headaches, and had dull thinking. I think it is against the law to go without one??? Ask a mechanic.

As far as removing it, It will probably make your car get better gas mileage and run better. I have removed them completely, but saved them in case I really needed it for inspection. And if you really bothered by it you can get a universal one at half the price.....Steve... hope this helps..
