these guys are right ,but check and see if you have a lot of air comming out the vent this well tell you if you are pluged up or not. I have worked on a lot of dryers that had this problems. before you do anything eles check this first, at least this is what i would do.

The element in most all electric clothes dryers is located in the back of the dryer, behind the drum. However, if your clothes are just taking a long time to dry, but eventually drying, you should check the lint trap and the vent pipe running to the outside for obstructions. If the warm, moist air inside the dryer cannot escape because of a blockage in the vent, clothes will eventually dry but it takes a long time. During the dry cycle, stop the machine and stick your hand inside with the clothes. If it is hot the element is doing it's job and you have another problem.

Make sure the the lint trap is clean but before you check the element look to see if the vent outside is clogged with lint as well. We have a deck with a cutout for the vent and it gets blocked up every so often.

While you are in there, clean the drum off of all the accumulated lint.
Even if the lint screen is clean, if the dryer is used a lot, there can be
a thick mat of lint formed on the drum. This is a great fire hazzard,
a common source of household fire

Well it actually depends on the make of your dryer.
However, most dryers have the heating element/ element coil placed in the inner sides of the the dryer. When you open/remove the back cover of your dryer, you'll see the element coil on right side of the machine. This heating element have 3 major parts: the wire, thermostat and the fuse.
If your dryer doesn't work well, you can check these elements and see if there is any need for a replacement....
