Can you prove that Jesus really lived?
Some people actually believe that just because so much voice and ink has spread the word of a character named Jesus throughout history, that this must mean that he actually lived. This argument simply does not hold. The number of people who believe or write about something or the professional degrees they hold say nothing at all about fact. Facts derive out of evidence, not from hearsay, not from hubris scholars, and certainly not from faithful believers. Regardless of the position or admiration held by a scholar, believer, or priest, if he or she cannot support a hypothesis with good evidence, then it can only remain a hypothesis. All four gospels are anonymous texts. The familiar attributions of the Gospels to Matthew, Mark, Luke and John come from the mid-second century and later and we have no good historical reason to accept these attributions.what say you
The most "authoritative" accounts of a historical Jesus come from the four canonical Gospels of the Bible. Note that these Gospels did not come into the Bible as original and authoritative from the authors themselves, but rather from the influence of early church fathers, especially the most influential of them all: Irenaeus of Lyon who lived in the middle of the second century. Many heretical gospels existed by that time, but Irenaeus considered only some of them for mystical reasons. He claimed only four in number; according to Romer, "like the four zones of the world, the four winds, the four divisions of man's estate, and the four forms of the first living creatures-- the lion of Mark, the calf of Luke, the man of Matthew, the eagle of John (see Against the Heresies). The four gospels then became Church cannon for the orthodox faith. Most of the other claimed gospel writings were burned, destroyed, or lost." [Romer]

Here we go again..... atheists trying to rewrite history. How is your denying history any different than a fundamentalist denying science?
There is not ONE single, solitary, legitimate historian who denies that the person of Jesus existed. The gospels and epistles are, whether you accept it or not, eye-witness testimony. They were NOT written in the 2nd or 3rd Century. All of them were written by, or had the authority of, the original apostles. The "newest" book of the New Testament was written approximately 90 A. D...... the book of Revelation either completely by John himself, or with one of his disciples.
While Roman records from that exact time have been long lost (there is only reference in surviving records of the time that Pilate existed) there are plenty from slightly later from people who DID have access to those original records. These were people who were OPPOSED to Christianity, and yet none of them denied Christ's existence.
One of such anti-Christian mentality was Cornelius Tacitus, a Roman historian, senator, consul and governor of the province of Asia. Concerning Jesus and His followers, Tacitus wrote, "Nero…punished with every refinement the notoriously depraved Christians (as they were popularly called). Their originator, Christ, had been executed in Tiberius' reign by the governor of Judea, Pontius Pilate. But in spite of this temporary setback, the deadly superstition had broken out afresh, not only in Judea (where this mischief had started)
but even in Rome" (The Annals of Imperial Rome, XV, 44).
Julian the Apostate (called such because he rejected Christianity after being raised in it), a fourth-century emperor, wrote, "Jesus, whom you celebrate, was one of Caesar's subjects. If you dispute it, I will prove it by and by; but it may be as well done now. For yourselves allow, that he was enrolled with his father and mother in Cyrenius…But Jesus having persuaded a few among you, and those the worst of men, has now been celebrated about 300 years; having done nothing worthy of remembrance; unless anyone thinks it is a mighty matter to heal lame and blind people, and exorcise demoniacs in the villages of Bethsaida and Bethany" (Cyril Contra Julian, VI, 191, 213).
These are just two quotes from pagan Roman scholars who loathed Christianity. Since these men had access to government records, and hated what Christians believed and stood for, they could have easily "disproved" and discredited the existence of Christ if they so wished. But, because they could not do such a thing, their writings only add to the monumental proof of the life of Christ.
What about the Jewish people? If Christ did not exist, how then could the Jews reject Him? In his book Antiquities of the Jews, Jewish historian Flavius Josephus writes about Jesus, His disciples and John the Baptist. He referred to John as "the good man" (XVIII, 5, 2).
Modern-day scholars recognize Josephus' account of the death of James, "the brother of Jesus who was called Christ" (XX, 9, 1), as genuine.
The Jewish Encyclopedia (1907 edition) explains that Jesus is also mentioned in the Talmud, the Jewish tradition consisting of the Mishnah and the Gemara. These references to Christ are found in the sections Shabbath 104b and 116b; Sanhedrin 43a, 67a and 107b; and Sotah 47a.
You may want to read an article entitled "Jesus of Nazareth," from The Jewish Encyclopedia (1907), the articles "Jesus Christ" and "Talmud and Midrash" from The New Encyclopedia Britannica (1981), or the article "Jesus" in the Encyclopedia Judaica for more background concerning this subject. These sources offer valuable information regarding the many proofs of the life of Christ. They point to the immutable facts that He: was born of a virgin, was of Jewish nationality, preached the gospel, healed the sick and diseased, and was betrayed and brutally slaughtered.

I would have to be on the same level as you here. I cannot myself legitimately say without a doubt that there was a person named Jesus who lived among us about 2000 years ago. There are other religions with the same type of virgin births and miracle healer around the same time. It was Christianity that took hold though to these beliefs more so. There is going to be mixed opinions on here about this one, just as politics and religion never have a clear cut answer. I am one who falls into the category of agnostic. There seems to be something out there, but what I have no idea. I cannot see all the facts myself on this one. But, when I look up into the night sky and wonder, why in the Universe is it all so big, and why is it only us so far in all this vast space and most importantly who created it all.

Nope, it does not. Someone else could have wrote the Bible. Or Jesus would have really been a person who lived, but he wasn't a miracle performing guy who was God.
Bye :3.

Oh brother...... Luke's gospel is taken from witnesses.
Josephus, a jewish historian, who didn't believe in Jesus as the Messiah also states that there was a Jesus of Nazareth. Why would he admit that if he were a jew. If he wanted to make Judaism sound better, he would have said there was no Jesus.
You have 4 gospels + Josephus a jewish historian.
Jesus existed. There is more proof for Him than for Caesar, so learn before you talk.
To say Jesus is not God, or the Christ, fine, that is your opinion, but Jesus not existing? That is just a idiotic false statement.
