Writers - have you ever thought about showcasing your writing on America's Got Talent?
I'm only asking this because back in late July, early August of last year, I learned that Canada's Got Talent (same concept) was coming to my hometown of Winnipeg in September for auditions. I'd thought of going down and giving a poetry reading or short-story reading, and perhaps get myself noticed. Maybe even introduce a new category. I figured maybe if the right people watched regularly, it would help get my foot in the door. But then I talked myself out of it, changed my mind, because it would be open to performing arts only (singing, dancing, comedy, etc) and they would not be willing to introduce a category for writers.
Do you think this would be a good idea? Have you writers ever thought of this? And do you think I should try to apply this coming year?

I've seen someone do poetry before as an audition. It wasn't as well received as it could have been. And not because it was a terrible poem, but because that's not really the right venue.
I honestly don't think it's a good idea. Writing is a different sort of art that I don't think really fits with Tv entertainment. Watching someone read what they wrote would be drastically different from people dancing, singing, or throwing knives at each other. And those are the people you'd have to compete with.

I don't think it's the way to go, for getting noticed for writing. Performing arts is a lot different than writing, and unless you perform in some way while reading, it would be boring to watch. And if you're performing, the focus will be on the performance, not on the writing.
Enjoying poetry and writing is something that's not usually done from an audience or by watching someone on a stage. I say pursue different means of getting noticed.

Wow! those concepts are so sturdy! And the straightforward tale. perhaps you are able to make it so as that the lady is definitely the genuine queen, and her and the unique queen replace places. you are able to make it that they are definitely twins! (i understand this is style of of a cliche, yet cliches can artwork.) you additionally could make it that the queen's mom is definitely being poisoned. perhaps the antagonist that all and sundry's stated so some distance is poisoning the queen's mom to earnings potential. Then the lady might desire to verify yet isn't able to do something because of the fact he's a extreme-score political respected. it would desire to end together with her finally revealing the antagonists intentions or killing him (despite works). And approximately romance and tragedy, the queen is pushed into marrying the antagonist's son, yet she would not love him. perhaps he then commits suicide by using leaping into the sea around the city; similar to a male Ophelia. you are able to desire to describe how the sea which the queen as quickly as lived will become tainted - she would be able to no longer look at it. this might then make contributions to the two ladies swapping places. additionally, i do no longer understand what your sister's like or once you're morally antagonistic to it, yet have you ever seen perhaps the lady and the queen might have an affair? this is an pretty candy birthday thought! savour writing :D

I agree with HP Wombat.
AGT isn't the best place to introduce your writing, unless you read whilst riding a unicycle or have a voice like Richard Burton or Morgan Freeman.
Google writing competitions in your local area.
If you really think AGT is the way to go; seek out an Open Mic Night somewhere and try your material there.
