No why would it if the engine is off? The only thing it'll do it flatten your battery which is why you shouldn't have it on too long if the engines off. The engine transmits power through the alternator to the battery so it's like on a permanent charge when the engine is on, so it doesn't matter if the radios on then because the engine keeps it charged. However if you listen to the radio with the engine off too long you'll flatten your battery and the engine won't be able to start at all, it'll just keep turning over. Which is when you'll need someone to jump start you to transmit power over to get the engine going and get the battery charging back up.

Well, just to be contrary, it wastes a TINY bit of gas. Think about it folks about to hit down thumbs...

By using an electrical accessory w/out the alternator turning, you are discharging the battery slightly. The next time the engine starts, the alternator is going to have to recharge the battery that much more, putting ever so slightly more load on the alternator, making it turn ever so slightly harder, and consuming more fuel.

By TINY, I mean negligible, but technically, I'd have to say yes, just not WHILE you're listening to it. You'd waste the gas a little later.

nope ! the radio don,t run off of gas. as long as the engine is off you won,t be using any gas but if you play the radio too long it can run the battery down if you don,t start it once in awhile to keep it charged.
