Could I use a "SM Pro Audio Patch +" as a power attenuator for my guitar amp and cab?

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/sm-pro-au...

I want to get a power attenuator for my amp, but would this one work or would it mess up all the ohms and stuff. I'm not very good with ohms and electricity. I have an 8ohm amp and an 8ohm cab

That volume attenuator will not work - it can't take the power that your amp puts out. It is designed to attenuate a signal that comes from a cd player or ipod or whatever. It is for line level signals not speaker level signals.

Here is the only one I could find:

Why do you need to do this anyway?? You should control the volume by turning the amp head down.
