illustration portfolio question?

hello, i'm in the process of creating my portfolio for an illustration course. the website for the course suggests this

"Sketchbooks:work should show artistic/cultural interests."

i'm not exactly clear on what that means; can anyone can give me an example of what i should be making for that section?

thanks.

You should ask your instructor to clarify. I would interpret it as meaning your portfolio should represent artistic styles or cultural influences that interest you or that you have explored in your art. For example, if you had an interest in Native American art and history, you would want to include pieces that reflect this in your portfolio. Like maybe an illustration of a traditional costume, or mythical figure.
