Update:

Tell your teacher to install the free compatibility pack from Microsoft, and tell her not to show hidden files so that she doesn't click on any files that have underscores _.thefilename.docx (which happens when Windows users turn on the display of hidden file names and they don't know how to use Microsoft Windows).

She probably can't open docx files, which is odd.

Just save it as a .doc and send again.

Tell her to get the Word compatibility pack.

What version are you using. How about her?

I am assuming that you have 2008 Mac because it is .doc. Does she even have Word?

re save it as a docx file and resend, that maybe the problem, if your office for mac is to old to creat docx files, grab ooO or neo and copy and paste it and port it to docx that way.
