Does anyone know of a cabin rental anywhere that accepts very large dogs?
I have a Great Dane and a Weim. I would like to find this dream place where large dogs are allowed and don't need to be leashed 100% of their stay. I have seen that on so many sites. How can you call that a vacation. So im looking a place that is pet friendly and lots of allowances for dogs. I know they have these rules because someone screwed it up for us but not all dogs/owners need to be punished.

We had a great time 6-7 years ago at Norris dam state park in Tennessee. I think they had one cabin that accepted pets. I don't remember anything about size. We had a 70 pound Golden. Cabin, it was more like a 3 bedroom house. Expensive, but with our grown children sharing it, a great deal.
I think off leash would be fine once you got away from the campground.

Don't know what area you are interested in vacationing at, but at least one of the above doesn't punish big dog owners by forbidding dogs, they will just cover the damages if you have a dog that isn't quite the angel you think he or she is. Tho' for sure there are plenty of well behaved big dogs! And certainly small ones can wreak havoc if not well behaved. I am thinking the pet friendly travel site can provide you with info for places in an area you are interested in visiting. Then you may have to call the place that sounds right for you and get approval. I'm guessing they will ask you some questions about your dog and clarify their policies about damages. The ones listed above seem to allow off leash activities for dogs.

You may, or may not have any interest in the Volhard dog training camp (where you can go WITH your dogs) but there are links for places where you can stay with dogs.

Most mountain cabins etc. & beaches have rules about dogs being on lead, both to prevent other PEOPLE from being jumped on (overwhelmed by) running or out of control dogs or to protect WILDLIFE - not to punish dog owners. Many dogs if loose, will take off after deer and therefore may get lost, if off-lead.
