Receivers - Onkyo TX-NR509 vs Yamaha RX-V471?

I'm looking to buy a new receiver and the following two has caught my attention:

Onkyo TX-NR509 - http://bit.ly/zp3BRx

Yamaha RX-V471 - http://bit.ly/ADsAWa

(I'm not going to buy from Newegg, I just provide some links if you want to see some information about the receivers.)

They're both available at affordable prices and I would like to know if one is better than the other or if it's pretty much the same deal? If anyone has had either one of them for a while, how has your experience been? I'm going to use the receiver for both movies and gaming, as well as listen to music.

Any help is appreciated :)

Neither component stands out as being outstanding over the other and they both function pretty much the same, they should both have good movie playback capabilities , it would be with high quality music Cd's or SACD and high quality speakers that they would both fall short of perfection... neither unit stands out as being superior I would probably call it a draw...I own a Onkyo now and it has preformed well, but I think for my next unit I would prefer a Denon, or possibly Marantz I have never owned a Yamaha but have heard some of their early stereo receivers from the late 70's and early 80's and was not impressed, they had a bad reputation back then...I have heard that they have improved tremendously in the past few years and there amps are now as good or better than any...I would take a look at the display colors and also the GUI interface on the TV screen and which one has a better look to you and interfaces with your other equipment better and get the one that you like better and has the better look,,if you have an i-pod the Yamaha may be a better choice as it interfaces with out the need for any optional equipment....
