Is liberalism a religion?

No. Liberalism is an intellectual philosophy. Conservatives try to claim liberalism is a religion in order to portray liberals as irrational fanatics, like many of the devout followers of religion. They also claim Obama to be a liberal messiah just so they can claim Obama is a failure when he doesn't deliver miracle cures for all the country's ills.

Conservatives can't compete with liberals in honest debate, so they often resort to slander and deliberate mischaracterizations of what it means to be a liberal in order to undermine their arguments.

Measured by the fervor of liberals to their dogma it is most certainly a religion -- a "hell fire" religion so eloquently professed by Obama's preacher of 20 years: "No, not God Bless America, but God Damn Amerika!"

But liberalism is also a mental defect over which demcrats have not control:

Liberalism is the belief in the importance of liberty and equal rights. Something conservatives oppose.
