During a Treadmill Stress Test, is it normal for your arms to go numb?

I just completed a Treadmill Stress Test for my heart. I reached my 100% heart rate within 2 minutes. The nurse said that was very quick. During the test, both of my arms began to go numb.

Is this normal? If not, what could this indicate? I asked if everything looked "ok" and was told the Cardialogist will get with by primary care dr. about the results. Opinions anybody?

Did you mention this to your health care provider or the person monitoring the test? This type of information is very vital to any treatment. Symptoms are just as important as signs. The test can't the cardiologist your arm was numb, but you can!

I don't know the cause(s) or medical significance of getting numb arms when running, but i know its not unusual for long distance runners to have numbness in the arms, hands, feet, or legs. Possible causes that i can think of are nerve compression in the upper arm, fluid build up in the arm or hands, and effects of increased blood flow.

Possibly you were anxious and hyperventilating. I certainly do when I have had my stress tests.

But I do hope you told your doc.

    Take care
