Tattoo placement and the military?
Where is it acceptable to get tattoos on your body if you were in the military? And is their anything that someone could get as a tattoo that would automatically keep them from joining? I.e., pot leaves?

In the army they have new regulations. They can be anywhere, including on your hands or the back of your neck so long as "they are not extremest, indecent, sexist or racist". Its army regulation 670-1 if you want to Google it.
You can even have them on your face in special circumstance, I.E. you are a female with eyebrows tattooed on to you for some ungodly reason. Air Force and Marines and probably the Navy will all be more strict, and I don't know about them.
Pot leaves will probably be a deal breaker for the Army honestly, but they care a lot less then you would think. A buddy of mine had FTA (F*** The Army) tattooed prominently on his shoulder, everybody knew about it, and everybody looked the other way. But he was a combat vet, not some guy just joining up.

Yes, some tattoos will keep you from being able to join. Any tattoo you have WILL be photographed when you go into the recruiters office for them to run in a database of crime/hate group symbols to see if there is a match. It can also be on a discretionary basis. If they don't like the tattoo or find it unacceptable, you can either have it removed or find another line of work. You need to call the recruiting office of the branch you're interested in and ask them though. The policy has changed often in the past 10 years. If you lie about a tattoo, they will find out during a physical.

Lol won't they remove a tattoo? Shoot yourself in the foot. If I got drafted that's what I would do. Then we get medical. =P
