How come the United states is supposed to be a nation under God but there are so many atheist.?

Scientist continue to dish out so called facts or theories such as the big bang. People doubt the existence of god or any particular deity, but from where does the key elements of your proclaimed theories come from, and where do the peices of those that create the elements of the theory come from. Some how some way a higher power or source had to start everything off. They give you a reason not to have beliefs(or "FACTS"), then look down upon you if you do, even though its supposed to be in God we trust. If we were truly a nation under god, then use of the death penalty would have never came into play, because jesus had already endured the pain of our sin. they might as well legalize gay marriage in every state, because thats the equivalent of giving a scientist a nobel peice prize for For discovering "FACTS" doubting the god our nation is supposed to be under.

this nation was founded on the freedom to worship God in our own way they were believers but they said there must be a separation of Church and state the founding fathers believed in God so they put in God we trust on our money they didn't say which Church you should attend the reason we have so many unbelievers in America is because they were not brought up in a Christians belief system there parents both had to work and neglected to teach the Bible and morals also we have immigrants who don't believe

The United States is not really a nation under God. It's under Canada.

Yah, I know. All those silly facts that support the Big Bang Theory:

** The red shift of almost all galaxies, getting greater as their distance increases.

    — This shows that the galaxies are flying away from each other, at greater speeds at greater distances.

** The cosmic microwave background radiation.

    — This is a remnant of the radiation from the Big Bang, and has cooled over time to the exact temperature predicted.

** The variations in the cosmic microwave background radiation.

    — These variations fit theoretical predictions, and were caused by quantum differences near the start of Big Bang.

** The proportions of the lightest elements and isotopes.

    — This helps show that the calculations for nuclear interactions immediately following the Big Bang are correct.

** The changes in galaxies as we look further away (and thus back in time), with distant galaxies more primitive and having fewer heavy elements.

    — This shows some of the changes in the universe since the Big Bang, and confirms the deep time of the universe.

** The change in the apparent speed of type 1a supernova as we look back in time, with distant supernova exploding more slowly.

    — This shows that the light has been stretched out by the expansion of space over billions of years.

Um we're not one nation "Under God" that was a term made up and added to the made up Pledge of Allegiance when it was created in the 50s. Also there is supposed to be a seperation between Church and State, meaning we are supposed to keep Religion away from government and politics. And Scientist find answers on their own, with no God intervening, most likely. I don't believe in a God or creator, to me it's illogical and primitive. However to you it may not be. WE ARE NOT A CHRISTIAN NATION! We are a nation of people is all.

Also if I was a doctor and I just spent 14 hours in surgery saving someones life and the surgery ended and I walked out to the waiting room and told the family that, "Kevin's going to be ok we got the bullet out" and the family said "THANK GOD!" I'd feel offended because God didn't do anything I was the one who saved his life.

But you're free to believe what you will.

Just the silly false claims for Christian numbers and the sad desire of the Christians to destroy democracy and install a theocratic dictatorship!

The churches own figures show only 28% ever attend church in a year. Indeed if 28% ever tried to attend church on the same day, even working shifts, there is simply not enough churches!

But count the bars - in many places there is more space In the bars than the churches!

Count all the seats in every church in a town and compare that to the population and it is very unlikely to achieve even 5%!

This is true right through the bible belt and in Salt Lake City!

Homeland Security is having to put more and more time and resources into tracking christians who seek to tear up the constitution, destroy democracy and foment a second civil war to install a christian dictatorship!

A chilling warning was issued to US police forces several years back about the threat of a rise in violent right wing and christian extremist groups fueled by recession and hostility over the first black president!

In March last year federal agents arrested and charged nine members of a Christian militia based in Michigan, calling itself the Hutaree with plotting to murder local police. The FBI has also made arrests in Seattle and San Francisco.

Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez was charged with attempting to murder the President last year!

Seems these people are not just a bigger threat to American freedoms than external terrorists but completely anti American!

Feel free to emigrate anytime soon!

Are you educated at all? Do you know the ones you call "scientist" live a stressful life learning and studying, while uneducated people like yourself choose to go to a stupid church and believe in a fantasy book while giving your money away to a preacher.

The god thing is expressly disavowed by the courts as no more than "ceremonial deism." Basically, they claim it is meaningless other than as a mantra. To claim it has meaning would be to admit is needs to be stricken as unconstitutional.

Someone once wrote "We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union..." instead " I, God of the United Sates, in order to form a more perfect union...."

that part was added in 1954, due to tensions and conflicting ideals with the religion-free soviet union. we are essentially a secular nation, with a foundation built upon the enlightenment and neoclassicism, not the bible.

The first amendment prohibits governmental endorsement of religion.

    You overlooked this important fact.
