Can you post me any one song from your all time top ten?

BQ. Being from your all time top ten, it must be a song you love. So briefly, tell me what you love about it, or what it means to you.

*I did this question a couple of weeks ago, and the responses were so strong I made a nice mix CD from the ones I purchased. If you answered that, then please do answer again with another of your top ten :)

Update:

Hi Mina.

I'm assuming Iron Maiden here. Wonderful song. Thank you for your answer.

Update 2:

Hi Eltrut.

It's a beautiful song. Touching version and a touching BA. I'm glad to hear you still have great respect for one another.

Update 3:

Hi ♪♫ Rocky ♪♫.

It is an amazing song. BA- I love when I get that feeling from a song. Sounds like a lot left unsaid about that certain someone :)

Update 4:

Hi Maurice.

I haven't heard this before. It is very good music, and I feel in touch with the song too somehow. BA- Underrated indeed. Thank you for your answer.

Update 5:

Hi Cathy.

That's a timeless song. BA. Music can mean so much and be so inspiring. Thank you for your answer.

Update 6:

Hi John.

Thanks for your answer. I will take Worlds Apart as your answer when considering my choice for best answer. I haven't heard this song before, but I really enjoyed listening to it. The Vincent Black Shadow, I listened to Surgery and Metro- Interesting. The singer is really pretty too.

Update 7:

Hi AISHWARYE.

That's a tender and touching song. BA. How could that fail to warm a girls heart. Thank you for your answer.

Update 8:

Hi Fred.

Yeah, good listen. It feels really nice. Interesting lyrics too. Thank you.

Update 9:

Hi Souly.

Thank you for your kind words, and so nice to see you around. I bought the song from I-Tunes just now- Beautiful. Shoulder Seasons is very nice too. I think I'll get that album actually. Thank you for your answer.

Update 10:

Hi Jaime.

Thank you. I have listened to all of the songs you suggested, and I definatley see what you mean. I do however allow only one song to be considered for best answer. If you read this, please tell me which one you would like me to use, otherwise i'll use Ghosts.

Update 11:

Hi Patrick.

Very nice to see you too. Personally i don't understand the thumb down, but anyway to the music. It is a really nice track, and very logically developed. It really caught me from around 3.35 after the interlude. BA- Geez, you could get paid to write reviews on the strength of that right there.

Update 12:

Hi Holly Speechless.

Thank you for supporting my questions, I enjoyed your answer in my Aussie band of the week question too. Certainly captured something in this song, and my it does finish strongly. BA- As Patrick's answer above you, it ws perfectly descriptive. Thanks for your answer.

Update 13:

Hi DJ Taha.

Good job on that. The style is admittedly not entirely to my taste, but it felt organic and was a good listen. I did like the way it finished off. Thank you for your answer.

Update 14:

Hi Mucky (You'll always be Mucky Pup to me :))

Hey, I like this. The whole song is just so well done. I clearly see what you mean about imagination too- I just gotta keep replaying that sound it finishes on!

I think I ough to get one of those last fm accounts. All the really cool users are getting them :)

Update 15:

Hi Ryan B ***Burrito*** -Mascis Militia-.

This song is awesome. First time i've heard it, but I really like it. Why did they wait till the end for that brilliant guitar effect? BA- Lol, with honesty like that who needs a BQ? Dare I add you as a contact!?

Update 16:

Hi Jo Jo.

Nice to see you again. I know what your saying about the "rawness", I love that. The vocals just compound that feeling so well (especially the backing vocals). Love the song. BA- You've sold me.

Update 17:

Hi Woofy.

This is a great song. I bet you guys belt it out on stage too? Lol, sea mail'll do just fine thanks.

Update 18:

Hi UNCOOL1

It's a beatifully written and delivered song. He makes a lot of sense, but hey, this is one of the ones I bought after your recommendation last time 'round. You're still welcome to put down another one if you like :) Thank you for your answer and the lovely song.

Update 19:

Hi Lady.

Oh. It is beautiful, and moreso after the way you described it. I really enjoyed that one. You do that? Base drawings on their songs? I find that inspiring in itself really. If only I could see them. Thank you for a great answer.

    Good afternoon Amy :)

I don't really have a 'top 10' {there are just too many great songs out there!}, but if I had to name something I've played over and over down the years, and could happily play again, I think today I'd go for...

    'Moths' ~ Jethro Tull http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QZhegSBIUJ0&fmt=18

A lot of the reason I love it is the lyrics - the artist in me can picture it all: a little cottage-type house with leaded-light diamond pane windows ( http://gb.fotolibra.com/images/previews/13589-hadd... ); a flickering candle on the windowledge... *

And the music has a beautiful, almost mediaeval quality to it. This is Ian Anderson at his most poetic and minstrel-like.

    * Jethro Tull are one of the bands I find most artistically inspiring, and I intend to make a collection of drawings based on their songs.

    * * *

    Yes :)

It's been a while {my confidence took a few knocks}, but I have a list of songs by Jethro Tull and Blackmore's Night as my two main inspirations, and then all sorts of random songs by people like Sandy Denny, Stevie Nicks, Loreena McKennitt {usually a particular lyric with hers}, Show of Hands, Led Zeppelin, etc.

The ultimate aim is 'coffee table books' - one each for JT and BN {I've even chosen titles!}, and a mixed collection of others. I get inspired by artists like Josephine Wall http://www.josephinewall.co.uk/ and Amy Brown http://www.amybrownart.com/

I do have a Top Ten, and they're ALL by Annie Lennox, either under her old duo label The Eurythmics or new solo label. I can't tell you exactly why I love her so so so much. She's just got a beautiful voice, delicate but very strong and powerful, and most of her songs are tailored to the emotions and the psyche.

Some of my favourites from her...

"Whiter Shade of Pale" [redo, I think] - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJIVz9nYx7I

    "Womankind" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTEwnPRWVXo

    "Honestly" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qw4A96_Be6o&feature...

    "Beautiful Child" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrctC6t0v4s

And SO many more, but these are some of my uberfaves

Just...a note? As much as I love her, Annie's music vids have a creepy vibe...

This Town Needs Guns - Want To Come Back To My Room and Listen To Some Belle and Sebastian?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=822-9KmFbmQ

"See you’re not for these blue eyes turned an envious green.

You were made for a man much better than me.

If I believe this or not is irrelevant,

It’s clear to me now that we were never meant to be."

BQ: I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it, and it absolutely ripped me apart at the same time. We all relate to music in different ways, but if you could tear me in little pieces and put it a song; this would be it.

    Hello Amy.

This is the top played song on my Iphone.

    I love the lyrics

Please give it a listen, & let me know your thoughts.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZM7rI17DG8

    Tell me, just one more time, the reason why you must leave;

Tell me once more why you’re sure you don’t need me

Tell me again but don’t think you’ll convince me.

    You said, about fallin’ in love again you’d rather be dead;

When someone breaks your heart you cry your eyes red

There’s nothing so hard about the life that you’ve led.

As far as I can see, there’s no reason for goodbye,

You’re just running scared, and that’s something I won’t buy.

So you lose, I won’t let you go, there’s nothing to show but more blues

All this talk about leaving is strictly bad news

So you settle down and stay with the boy that loves you

As far as I can see, there’s no reason for goodbye

You’re just running scared, and that’s something I won’t buy.

So you lose, I won’t let you go, there’s nothing to show but more blues.

All this talk about leaving is strictly bad news

So you settle down and stay with the boy that loves you.

So you settle down and stay with the boy that loves you.

So you settle down and stay with the boy that loves you.

So you settle down and stay with the boy that loves you.

    EDIT:

Sorry, I didn't realize that I already used this song.

Here is the number 2 song from my Iphone:

I really love this song, they are a very underrated band.

    please give it a listen

    Arizona Dust---Blue Rodeo

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSu8mWj5ZhI

    Every night a different story

    California dreams

Grew up thinking there was somewhere else that you should be

    Cities just weren’t big enough

The towns had lost their way

Told me you would bide your time til you could slip away

When you left I drove you to the station

Said you’d come back when the hunger fades away

    Candice I’ve been dreaming

And in my mind I’m watching over you just like the sun

See your face but can’t tell what you’re thinking

Are you running through the past and where it’s gone

Don’t worry now the war’s already won

Got a card the other day

    Capistrano Fair

Told me it was beautiful now fall was in the air

    Swallows all were leaving

    They circled round the bay

But they’d come back there next year on exactly the same day

You told me that the leaving’s getting easier with time

Cause you learned how not to ever look behind

    Candice I’ve been dreaming

And in my mind I’m watching over you just like the sun

See your face but can’t tell what you’re thinking

Are you worried about the things you’ve never done

Don’t worry now the war’s already won

I know that things will never be the same again for you

And I know your restless heart cannot be told

For every road you wish you’d traveled I can show you two

Where the summer rain shines like polished gold

    Candice I’ve been dreaming

In my mind I’m watching over you just like the sun

See your face but can’t tell what you’re thinking

Are you worried about the past and where it’s gone

Come on home the war’s already won

Since I've Been Loving You ~ Led Zeppelin

BQ: The song gives me chills every time I hear it, which has been a zillion times. So much passion in the way Plant sings that song. It reminds me of a special guy I know too! ♥♥

    I hear a symphony - The Supremes

    http://youtu.be/p578t1q1ZfU

My wife and I met during our final year of college (1965-66), and this song was popular near the end of 1965. My wife and I got engaged on Christmas Eve, 1965 and used to call this song "our song". Irene brought much joy into my life. I thought this super sweet song expressed my happiness well. Irene and I enjoyed a private joke by sharing that old cliche, "They're playing our song." whenever we heard this song at the rollerskating rink, dances, car radio, restaurants, dorm parties, etc. etc.

It's a song that...even though it's forty-five-years-old...nurtures good memories in this old man's heart. Thank you, Amy.

    Hey Amy :)

    Vitimin C - Can

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIyttsHIpDU

BQ: I love a lot of things about it. The drum rhythm particularly and pretty much the whole vibe to it. The main reason it's in my top ten is that it also represents a snapshot in time for me. A great time indeed.

That's a toughie. I never could pick favorite songs. Recently, i havent been able to stop listening to "Worlds Apart" by Dreamland and "November Rain" by Guns 'n' Roses. They're not heavy. Also "The Vincent Black Shadow" - anything off either of their albums. But that's more than you asked for...

I think about my ex-girlfriend that I dated for 10 years. We split up over 12 years ago, but we are still best of friends and we'll always have a strong 'connection'. She's a wonderful person. :)
