Moving to Manchester, England from US. Husband will be working there. Any advice on what not to bring ?
Such as appliances, pets, anything you can think of? Also are there any places you could suggest around Manchester that would be a good place to live? I have one daughter who is 13.

As you are travelling from a Non EU listed country your pets will be welcome as long as you follow the correct requirements which can be found at this official site...

Manchester is quite a large and busy place so it would depend on where your husband will be working as to what areas you should look at living in. Rightmove is a good site for getting an idea of rents and how much properties are to buy in the Manchester area...
And your appliances will fry so maybe it is best to leave those behind and buy new when you get here...
Don't bring your car unless it is super efficient as fuel is very expensive over here, and you would find it a disadvantage driving on the left with the steering wheel on the left. However if you do want to drive over here give yourselves a head start by reading up on our highway code....no turning left on a red light here...

Hope your move goes ok...

Manchester is ghastly but close by is the beautiful Peak District National Park. I'd live in a town or village there and commute into Manchester. A house you rent should already be equipped with appliances. Pets may have to go into quarantine. Check with your nearest British embassy/consulate. A long flight in the baggage hold is very traumatic for animals too.

Appliances won't work (yours are 110v, ours are 230). Pets won't be allowed (quarantine laws).
You really need to seek some proper advice. Ask your husband to find out whether the people organising the move can offer some.
