2 AnswersOther - Environment1 decade agoHow do you explain hallucinations to a child?
My mother is having hallucinations and doing strange things. This past Monday I got a call from the Fire Dept. and Police Dept. where my mother lives. She had made up the bed like there were dead people in it (she stuffed the blankets with toilet paper) and called 911 and told them there were dead people in the house. She told the FD and PD that my dad was sitting right there in a chair when they asked her where he was. Today she called me and asked me when we left, I told her that we had not been there (we live in a different state) she said well I just saw Sam (my daughter) an hour ago. My dad is having to stay home with her and he wants me to go over there. How do I explain this behavior to my daughter? How do you explain that the grandmother you knew isn't the same? She doesn't have alzheimers. She has suffered from major depression for years, it may be related to that? Please... no insensitive answers. This is very hard.
4 AnswersMental Health1 decade agoShould I have a welfare check done on my son?
First of all I used to be a cop. I know what they will, won't, can, or cannot do. I was asking from a mothers and a situational perspective. It IS there job just like it was mine when I was a cop. I called the police on my son and I would do it again. If he wants to smoke pot he can do it somewhere else, it will not be tolerated in my home. I will not possibly lose my daughter who is a minor because my son doesn't care about anyone but himself. Thanks to all who actually took the time to READ my question BEFORE answering. Tough love is tough...But It wouldn't be done if we didn't love them.
1 AnswerLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoShould I have a welfare check on my son?
There seems to be some misunderstanding. There is not room to write everthing. The pot incident was the straw that broke the camels back. I called the police because I cannot handle him. I have no control over him- thanks to his dad who I divorced 16 years ago. That's not to say I haven't made mistakes. I have had him in counceling several times. I cannot talk to or reason with my son. He accepts no responsibility for his actions, it's always someones elses fault. I did not kick him out he left on his own. I reported to the police (on the advice of FINS) that he left on his own. Therefore any criminal action he commits is on him. I will not let him return until he understands that I run this house and not him. He has no respect for my belongings or my daughters. He has no compunction about taking whatever he wants and breaks it. I cannot lock anything- he destroys every lock I put on my personal belongings. He is my son and I am very concerned about him. I love him and am heartbroken.
6 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoShould I have the police do a welfare check on my 17 year old son? I caught him smoking pot in his room on Mon
I notified the police. I found in his room, while the officer was there, a lot of paraphernalia which the officer took. He didn't arrest my son, he said if my son had acted like a punk ( my son is very manipulative and can be reasonable when it suits his purpose) and if he had found more than just seeds he would have. My son swallowed what he had. I tooks his cell phone, his door off his room, his cable, etc. He walked out and said he hoped I enjoyed the last 17 years (a bluff). I filed a report that he left on his own and I didn't make him. I will not allow him to come home until he agrees to a behavior contract. He bullies me, lies, breaks things, cries, when he doesn't get his way. My daughter and I are afraid of him. Either on Tue or Wed night he tried to break into the house. I found the window glass on the ground Thur. Luckily I know him and even which window he would use and I had it blocked good. I am still concerned about his welfare. I do not know what to do with him.
28 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 decade agoMy son was caught smoking marijuana in his room, should I take the door off of his room?
I caught my 17 year old son smoking marijuana in his room last night. I also found a bunch of drug paraphernalia relating to marijuana. I am trying to come up with an appropriate consequence. He is very deceitful and manipulative, and he pitches a fit like a two year old when he doesn't get his way. He tries to bully me at times to get his way. A month ago I didn't want his girlfriend to come over because I didn't want to "babysit" them that particular day. My son called my mother and father and had them call me to assure me that he was not having sex. I talked to my husband today who is in Iraq and he said he had a talk with Robert before he left and that he and my son talked about the fact that he and his girlfriend were having sex. Anyway, anytime he gets punished or I won't give him money or he doesn't get his way, he pitches a fit and then calls my mom who gets mad at me. He plays on her sympathies very well. Should I take his door off of his room?
19 AnswersFamily1 decade agoI have a section of hair that refuses to be straightened.?
I recently got my hair cut and thinned out because I have really thick curly hair. At first my hair turned out beautifully but now after about two or three weeks I have a section in the back that sticks out and refuses to lay down. I use Paul Mitchell Super Skinny conditioner and serum. I also use a professional Chi Iron that gets really hot. Could it possibly be that I need a trim because I have over ironed that section? Or does anyone have any clue to what the problem could be and how I can correct it?
3 AnswersHair1 decade agoCan someone help me identify a bird?
My cat had a bird the other day...luckily I think I got to it before any serious damage was done, it could not fly though. I got an animal rescue org. to come get it. The bird was small, kind of shaped like a chickadee but a little bigger. It had a distictive black mask that came to points above the eyes and to points on the side of the eyes. The mask was outlined in yellow. The head and up to the "shoulders" was a light brown and then the color changed at that point to gray (a light to medium gray). The tail was straight and black on the end and tipped in yellow. It did not have a crest or any red that I noticed. It's not a Cedar Waxwing...but it closely resembles this bird. The mask on the Cedar Waxwing is different and like I mentioned before it had no crest. I have looked and looked but I cannot figure out what kind of bird it is. I live in southern Louisiana..if that helps. I would appreciate any help with the id. Thanks in advance.
7 AnswersBirds1 decade agoDoes anyone have any experience with Whitford Eclipse coating on hard anodized cookware?
I am looking at buying a set of "Cooks" hard anodized cookware from JC Penney. It says it has something called Whitford Eclipse coating which it says is supposed to ensure safe use with metal utensils. I bought a very expensive set of Kitchen- Aid cookware with teflon a couple of years ago and I really got ripped off...the set is a mess. Anyway, I was wondering if the Whitford coating really protects from scratching.
1 AnswerCooking & Recipes1 decade agoHow do I find on my computer where it tells whether my computer has a 64 or 32 bit processor?
I have a Dell computer and it is currently running Windows XP. I ran a program called Tune-up System Optimizer and it says that I have a 64 bit processor but my computer is only using 32 of the available 64 bits. I want to check this out for myself...I have looked under everything I can think of in the control panel but I have not been able to locate any information that says anything about 64 or even 32 bits.

4 AnswersOther - Yahoo Products1 decade agoHair help! I got my hair dyed yesterday and now it's burgundy.?
I have natural red hair but over the years it has faded to strawberry blonde. I went to my hairdresser yesterday and told her I wanted the vibrancy and depth I used to have and I brought her a picture of what it used to look like. She put what she called drop color in. It's now a dark burgundy, I feel like a sideshow freak. Another hairdresser who was there told me that if I thought it was too dark to wash it with baking soda and that would lighten it up, it did not work. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

12 AnswersFashion & Accessories1 decade agoI need a good waterproof disposible camera with flash.?
I am going on a cruise and I want a good waterproof disposable camera with flash, for daytime and nighttime use. Anyone have any experience using these? Can anyone recommend a good one to buy? Or should I just bring my digital camera and buy a see-through waterproof pouch? I hate the thought of ruining, or losing my digital though.

6 AnswersPhotography1 decade agoI have a Basenji-German Spitz mix that I adopted from a local rescue organization. He has begun to snap.?
I got him this past August. He is now 9mo.old and he is neutered. He barks and growls at new people who come in the house. Some people he warms up to and some he does not, in those cases I kennel him. Last week he snapped at a neighbor, in the face. Last night he snapped at my daughter also in the face, he has never done this to her before. He was laying down, but awake, so he saw her coming. When she knelt down to pet him he snapped at her. Is there any way to correct this behavior, or am I in for a big problem? Should I return him to the organization? I would hate to do that because I have become very attached to him, but I cannot have him snapping or, heaven forbid, start biting.

You don't see it the other way around. Hmmmm. I think the conservatives are intimidated because the liberals make them doubt themselves. What do you think?
