We were in Monument Valley, Navajo Nation USA last year. I knew it would be beautiful to look at, having seen the valley in numerous movie, TV and photo shoots.
What I didn't expect was the tremendous feeling of (for lack of better words) peace/contentment that I felt while we were at one spot in the Park. I still can't explain it. (My soul was at rest.)
@and I noticed the other Y!A named Canyon de Chelly, also in the Navajo Nation. We were there several days later, and could hear horses in the bottom of the canyon, neighing and nickering, due to the excellent acoustics.

Canyon de Chelley (pronounced de-Shay) National Park in the middle of the Navajo Reservation in Arizona is a spectacular winding sandstone canyon with cliff dwellings which still has some Navajo families living in it in tradional hogans. You have to have a Navajo guide to go in (to protect the ruins). Very neat place to visit.
One morning many years ago I was sitting up on the edge of the south rim as the sun came up, waiting for some good photo opportunities of the White House Ruins across the canyon. The canyon was about 800 feet below, straight down. Below me was a grove of cottonwood trees. A Navajo shepherd was apparently in the trees with his flock of sheep, and he was singing in Navajo. With the breeze, you could hear his song and then you couldn't, then you could hear it drifting up from the valley floor again, along with a sheep bleating. But maybe no one was really there...... it was very mystical.
