Is anyone else waiting for year 2045?

I wonder if Half Life 3 will be out by then.

Based on wage sand salaries 30 years ago and the price of car fuels at the time, they are cheaper now than they were then.

If there are real shortages then prices will rise and users will find other means of transport. Since supplies will not be exhausted, just scarcer, essential services like fire, police, ambulance etc will not be affected. However you may reconsider that 6 mile drive to the shopping mall and prefer to walk around the corner to the shop down the street, just as your grandparents and great grandparents did. And you are more likely to walk, cycle or take the bus to work.

The growth of suburban sprawl will slow and inner city or apartment living will become more common, probably closer to work places. The days of the 70 mile commute are numbered but it's not going to be in the next 15 years.

Afghanistan and it's neighbors are also rich in the types of minerals needed to make the storage batteries that will be required for electric vehicles and home electrical systems that rely on solar power.

That and the idea of more nuclear proliferation kinda takes the fun out of your idea...

What is about to happen is happening.
