Dog "toys" versus stolen goods......?

My 13mth old Akbash loves those cheap, crappy squeaky toys, she plays fetch with them and has never, ever destroyed one. When it comes to my shoes, boots, items of clothing and other "stolen" items she rips them to pieces! Do you have a dog that does this? I mean, a cheap toy costing less than $2 is safe, but other stuff that costs a lot and aren't toys are destroyed in minutes!

Some dogs are attention seekers, and will set about destroying things when you are out. In addition some will tear to shreds any mail put through the door, again when you are out.

You need to keep the damaged item and scold them sharply. They are not as dumb as people think.

My dog still has the original soft toy that the breeder sent with him. He treats all his soft toys with utmost respect and if he has a play-friend around he will present his favourite toys to them, if he likes them. Unfortunately his friends don't treat his toys with the same sort of respect.

Plastic toys are different though. Although he hasn't eaten anything since he has matured, there was a time when scooping up his poop it wasn't uncommon to find tiny dolls heads in the poo or a barbie arm sticking out, tinsel and all sorts of other things like the tail rotor off a tiny helicopter, where normally you'd just expect the odd bit of corn.

Separation anxiety, and as your scent is on those items they will continue to bet shredded until you train the dog better or use a crate.
