There is a reason they no longer call it combat fatigue or being shell shocked. They called post traumatic stress disorder. It's a mental illness and anyone anywhere can get it even people who have never been to a combat zone. People who are raped can have it people who are in car crashes can have it people who are assaulted can have it. It all has to do with you're personality and whether or not you have experienced something "traumatic". If combat is traumatic for a member of Al Qaeda then they might have it. If they watch someone else become a suicide bomber they might have it. If their dad beat them when they were growing up they might have it.
Trauma effects everyon differently.
