Is the tendency to blame Christians for so many social ills unlike Hitler blaming the Jews?

Update:

Hamana's comment shows that some people blame Christians as a whole, and I don't feel the need to pretend otherwise. But I do appreciate your thoughtful answer.

And JeepGirl, the Jews were not being put in ovens when Hitler wrote Mein Kampf either.

I guess my next question is, does their being a majority validate persecution?

Update 3:

@Gray eagle: What statement is unsupported? It's a question, not a statement. To answer your question, would Hitler have done what he did if there had been no Jews? No, he wouldn't have slaughtered 6 millions Jews if their had been no Jews.

Christians are a majority. Jews were (and are) a minority. Christians are blamed as individuals, not referring to everyone in the religion. Jews are blamed as a whole, no matter how far they were from any of the injuries Hitler believed they caused.

Nope, I'd say they have nothing to do with one another.

Edit: Some people do blame Christians as a whole, but they are not the influential ones, unlike Hitler. You can still find people who blame Jews for all the world's ills, doesn't mean that they have any sway in politics, and they're certainly not going out and performing mass genocides.

As for being a majority, nothing validates persecution, but I would argue that the amount of persecution the Christian majority puts out is far more than what they receive. Sure, there are minority groups that dislike them, mostly because they have a shared history in which they weren't well loved. I myself am a Jew, and Christians have hardly been kind to us in our long history. Even today, I'm often proselytized, and basically told that my religion is going to send me to hell. Never seen any Jews say anything even close to as hurtful about Christians. My sister is a homosexual, and her rights are constantly being slammed by Christian groups. At least when Christians are persecuted, their rights aren't in question.

The reason why Christians are persecuted today to any extent is that people are starting to wake up to the fact that the Church has a long history of persecution and keeps it going today. It doesn't apply to all Christians, but neither do all their hurtful comments apply to all members of each minority they talk about. At the end of the day, though, what people say about Christians has little effect and might as well be pissing in the wind.

You know what the word scapegoat means? If not look it up. Ask yourself this. Would Hitler have done many of the things he did if there had been no Jews? Only answer is yes. You have a flawed unsupported statement.

What does it take to blame religion?

    http://whyevolutionistrue.wordpress.com/2011/04/04...

He may not have killed Jews, but he would have done much of what he did. Jews were not the reason for the war and not the reason Hitler invaded Europe.

You don't actually have a question. Has there been a nationally known person that blamed Christians for some social problem? Are Christians to blamed for abortions? Drug use? The economy? Nope. But in the news just today a leading Catholic priest attacked the Obama Administration for a law he, the preist, apparently does not understand.

The Jew hate, the German greed over-balanced the hate. When you can steal all the JEWS wealth,

Rail them out ,gas, burn, look for gold teeth. They also went after Mormons, homosexuals, mental patents,

    Gypsies.

The claim to fame for both ADOLF/ BARACK , GREAT SPEAKING EXPERTISE lie while looking

at you. Both past are close, my way our the highway, what they read, and both wan to rule 1,000 years.

Both Adolf (who used flash cards), and the Good old tele-prompter. Bet they both read MEIN KAMPF.

This religion po-po pile BHO is in, just cost him the election, as God works in strange ways.

Worse. When you ask a liberal, it is our fault that a 12 y/o boy's snake enters a 12 y/o girl's nest without thinking about the consequences.

The left always requires 'enemies' to justify their actions.

It's not the same thing. For one thing, Christians aren't being put into ovens or being stripped of their human rights.
