Is it legal to respectfully refuse being grounded by my step-mom?
Hey guys today my step mom asked me to babysit my step brother(12) while they were away for the night, so then my sister came back and figured she could look after him.
When I got home the step mom was mad because she said ''I had to spend time with him and that's why he's here''. (Which she never said and pinning it on me because its his weekend to spend here) So now I'm grounded for saturday night by her.
So is it legal for me to respectfully refuse her unfair disciplinary actions?

youre a minor, you dont have the authority to "respectfully refuse"
facts are she asked YOU to look after him, you chose to disobey her and now you are punished. get over it

You can refuse. And she can take away your rights/privileges around the house.
Who are you to say what is fair/unfair? I think her punishment is not only fair, but appropriate.

Theres nothing illegal to refuse your parents (even your real parents) orders. What are they going to do take you to court for leaving the house? You have no legal obligation to listen to your parents. If they tell you otherwise their just lying to you

There is no law that states you need to listen to your parents. If you don't, you just need to be ready to accept the consequences
