Do you think the whole team is to blame for the Blackhawks 7-game winless streak, because of their defense?

The Blackhawks have enough talent and offense to score goals, but their defense is so inconsistent, because they're more passively and less physically on defense, instead of being more aggressive. They're missing assignments, mishandling the puck in their own zone, instead of calmly trying to clear it out of harm's way, and showing no discipline and intelligence to stop opponent from scoring easy goals, and as a result of their defensive ineptitude, they're suffering from multiple communication breakdowns and allowing teams to score easy goals.

Somehow, the Blackhawks' defense has to get better, and the puck has to bounce the Blackhawks' way, instead of the other way around, and it wouldn't hurt for them to score that first goal that always sets the tone for the rest of the game.

Do you agree that the whole team's to blame for their losing streak, because of their defensive ineptitude? And, what do they need to do to end their losing streak?

Yeah I do think it's the whole team. Something is wrong with the core group because none of them are able to score. They can't score on the powerplay, which doesn't make any sense with the offensive talent they have. The defense is terrible, Duncan Keith is a mess and Nick Leddy needs to be sent down to Rockford. Why they continue to put him out on the pk I don't know because it seems like he's doing a lot more help for the opposing team than us. I understand that the defense in front of him isn't very good, but Crawford lets in too many soft goals and is never in the right place (see 4th san jose goal last night) What makes me angry is that they have so many talented players, they have all the potential to be the best in the league, and they were for a good part of the first half of the season. I don't know if it's the chemistry of the players/coaches that is causing this but they aren't working together as a group. They're sloppy on the ice and don't know what their doing. Hopefully they can figure it out fast because if they don't theyre going to be in serious trouble. I can't see them missing the playoffs completly but if they don't step it up they're going to see themselves playing Detroit or Vancouver in the 1st round

i would agree that their own zone coverage has been pretty bad. Goaltending has been an issue as well....sometimes guys miss assignments and the goalie needs to bail them out once in a while. Neither of the Hawks goalies are playing particularly well and both are giving up too many soft goals. But after teams get by the Keith/Seabrook pair the next 2 pairs are both very weak in their own zone....if it isnt addressed before the deadline I see the hawks being in incredible trouble. Cant play Keith and Seabrook 40-45 minutes a night and expect to get far. The bad part is usually very sound forwards like Toews and Hossa are also playing poor in their own end. Depth has to be a major concern as the falloff from the 2nd line to the 3rd & 4th lines is pretty bad along with the lack of performance from the 2nd & 3rd defensive pairs. The Cup run was great but the mismanaged cap cost them a lot of the character guys and they havent recovered....you need competent 3rd and 4th lines or you run the risk of putting too much pressure on the top pairs and that seems to be the current issue.

The offense is down during the losing streak, but I agree the main problem is defense. While the Hawks are glad to be rid of the contract, the team misses Brian Campbell. Nick Leddy is nowhere near as talented as Campbell. Brian had an underrated defensive game, and he was much better at starting the breakout.

The 3rd pairing is awful as well. Getting to rotate Montador, O'Donnell, and Scott means that the Hawks have no one that can start the breakout or make a decent pass.

One missed problem, at least how I see it, is the 3rd line of Chicago. The Bickel - Bolland - Frolik line has not scored, and they've been pretty bad defensively as well. That line needs to get back to playing better defensive hockey. Bolland is known for shutting down the Sedin line, but at this rate, he won't shut down Manny Malholtra.

i assumed the Flyers have been the better group and the Blackhawks kinda stole the interest. i'm not making excuses for the Flyers however the had tremendously much no outcomes. objective tending became flat out undesirable. Leighton looked VERY traumatic so i think of they could desire to start up Boucher for interest 2. i think of he performed properly for his first time back in a month. i'm not shocked that the Flyers post a stressful combat because of the fact: a million. Beat the 2d seeded group (NJ Devils) in around one 2. Battled back from a three-0 deficit in around 2 3. Defeated the group that beat the Washington Capitals AND the reigning Stanley Cup champs I do see the Blackhawks winning the Stanley Cup yet i think of it will be a actual canines combat. *Hawks in 6* (abode ice for the Hawks)

  • No one player or one aspect of the game creates a 7 game losing streak. They are all to blame. It's not just D or goal, that's just who gets blamed. Scoring is also off.
