The proposal is NOT relevant to single parents. This only applies to couples and actually makes perfect sense. You will still recieve the help as a single parent once you work 16 hours or more. Only COUPLES with children will be affected by this new ruling.

Basically, currently a single parent has to work 16hrs to recieve childcare and WTC help bearing in mind she NEEDS to pay childcare just to go to work! A couple do not need to do that, a couple can get WTC once only one of them works 16 hours, the other person can sit at home looking after the kids quite happily.

Hence my belief it is making the system fairer :)

At the moment it is a proposal, but nothing is written in stone,as far as I've read

it's a disgrace, on one hand the government want you to work,

then they say they'll penalise you if you don't work enough hours

Honestly, this government are the pits and are just making the working class poorer and poorer

No - that doesn't even make sense! your eligibility depends on your income - not how many hours you work!
