Ok,
you need to calm down. it will be ok. First, you get your boarding pass and ticket either the night before your plane leaves or the day it leaves in the airport. Decide whether you are checking in a bag or taking it on the plane with you. Normally you can take one personal bag (a backpack, purse, even items like a cane, etc.) and you can take a carry on bag (a small suitcase). If you check-in a bigger bag (the airline takes it in cargo) you can pretty much put anything in it, just avoid knives and weapons. On your carry on bag, you can only take liquids, cremes, gels in containers under 3 ounces and those items must fit into a court size bag (ziplock brand has those). DO NOT brink any pocket knives, weapons, or self defense items.
So you will go into the airport and check in (to let the airline know you are there). Then, you will walk towards security. (it will be easy to find). In security you must take off belts, jackets, shoes, and metal jewelry. You will run those items through the x-ray. If a security guard pulls you off to the side and personally checks your bag, do not be worried because its just called a random screening. (Its happened to me before multiple times).
After security you walk to your "gate" or area where you sit down and wait for the plane. The people will say over the speaker when its time to board. Then, get on the flight, find your seat, relax, and enjoy.
It really is not all that big of a deal as people make it seem. Bring your ipod, a book, some magazines, or electronic games to entertain you on the flight. If you are lucky they will play a movie to watch.

1. First, you go to the check-in counter and they'll guide you through the process if you tell them you're a first time flyer and are nervous.
2. Then there's security, which takes FOREVER to go through. First of all, you can't have any liquids or gels (including toothpaste) that are more than 3 ounces. The ones that you have that are less than that must be in a pint-size plastic bag. Wear socks and sneakers, because you'll have to take off your shoes when going through security. Coats and hoodies must be taken off too; these will be put in the bins on the conveyor belt where the metal detectors are (you'll understand better when you get there trust me). Guns, knives, scissors, that kinda thing is all not allowed for obvious reasons.
3. What to bring: try to avoid a big suitcase, because you will be charged $25 each way for baggage that is checked in. Instead, bring one of those little suitcases, the kind that business people sometimes have, and fill it as much as you can. If you do that, that counts as your carry-on bag and there will be no fee. If you're a girl, you can bring that plus a purse. If you're a guy, that's the only bag of any kind you can bring on the plane. Bring a book or Ipod to keep you occupied. Cell phones must be kept off during the flight, it can be very dangerous to have them on because it messes with the plane's mechanical system/radar thingy.
4. Other: the takeoff can be freaky but trust me you won't crash (even though it feels like you might sometimes). the landing will probably be bumpy, this is normal. Your ears might hurt some when taking off and when you're about to land; this too is normal, and can be helped by chewing gum. Get to the airport AT LEAST an hour before the flight is scheduled to takeoff; I recommend being there an hour and a half before the scheduled takeoff time. You must be at your gate 20 minutes before takeoff time, because this is when they start to board the plane.
I think that's about it, hope your trip goes well!

Just don't bring Large amounts of liquids (or weapons or stuff that could be made into weapons, i hope you already know that) wear easy to put on shoes and layers of clothing, and don't sweat it. You are more likely to die from almost anything, like an elephant stampede. And don't wear anything too showy just in case you have to get a pat down. Turbulence almost always happens, because there are clouds in the sky. That's about it.

Bring gum. It will help with the pressure. Also, bring your iPod or something to help pass the time.
Any wireless device should be put on Airplane Mode (including your phone).

Just watch movies on the plane then, if you want bring a DS, or PSP or something if you don't want to watch a movie.

Do not bring anything that can be considered a weapon like a KNIFE. If you need entertainment bring things like books, magazines, laptop, etc.

bring your phone and keep it on so you can call for help if anything goes wrong.
