It's really a non issue. It's more baseless rhetoric from Gingrich to further his campaign. Cons adopted it to bash Obama. We are in a recession so naturally more people will apply. Plus, the US population grew from 280 million in 2000 to around 310 million in 2010. Why wouldn't more people use programs?

Cons want you to believe that, under Bush, the number of people using the program wasn't in the "millions" like now, but the fact is the number went from 17 million to 28 million people when Bush was president.

Using Con logic, Bush should be just as much as a "food stamp president" as Obama if they want to use the context of judging a president by the rise in food stamps

Why did Obama help people with food stamps, because when Bush left, 750.000 jobs a month were gone, and mortgages were under water, good, hard working middle Americans needed help. I swear, Cons. insist on living in a "Bubble" of Con. that never tell the whole story.

Actually the numbers are about the same for both. Roughly 11 million added to roles. The difference would be in the time frames. Bush did it over 8 years while Obama's numbers have come in just 3 years.

Actually, Bush did. Food stamp usage rose consistently throughout the Bush years. .

Neither put anyone on food stamps, at least as far as any credible source can indicate. but if you have some data that either one of them did, that would be interesting to see

Make more and more people or everyone dependent on the government and you become a socialist nation with Barry Chavez our dictator for life. Just look at what he has accomplished toward his goals in only three years. We're screwed.

More now on food stamps that all previous administrations combined.

Obama is truly "The Food Stamp President."
