help hooking microphone to home amplifier?

I have a nice Denon home amplifier with all the standard inputs including HDMI, fiber optic, and other common ones. I use the speaker connections where it expects you to put speaker wire and get a great sound no problem. What i want to do is easily plug in a microphone that will allow me to play a wedding talk through these speakers. Why does this seem so difficult? please help

Update:

if i had a microphone with a cord that had a 1/4 inch male stereo jack end would getting a 1/4inch female to rgb plug (red and white plugs) that plugs into my amplifier do the trick?

I wouldn't recommend it, you'll suffer feedback problems, and quite likely destroy some of your equipment.
